Given that an inch change in stretch or hand position probably equates to a 10% difference in load, how do you ensure consistent, tracked progression in your workouts? How do you prevent significant variance between what you think you're doing and reality between sets and exercises ?

I love your videos James, I recently moved from a proper city to absolutely nowhere, no gym in sight. weights are way too expensive, and no room. I've been gaining like crazy on wild elk meat and the band workouts. I went with a cheaper brand of bands on amazon though, in fact 1/4 the price. I know they aren't as good, but if the supplier just brought the cost down a 1/4 I think sales would sore. Undersun wasn't anywhere to be seen when I searched resistance bands on amazon, I had to search for them specifically.
@kurtheitman5524 жыл бұрын
@@minnownoir8949 dude, that is a great post. I would say you're kind of left with INSTINCT when it comes to progression in load. For me, it's all about how I look to monitor my progress. I am a bodybuilder and don't care about weight. Some days you feel strong, and some days you don't. You would probably have to use weights occasionally for absolute hard numbers.

I have applied these techniques to my band routine and it really works. The beauty of bands is there is so little stress on the joints compared to weights and...the angle changes for attacking an individual muscle group are very easy to perform. This is particularly valuable when compared to the limitations of barbells, dumbbells or machines. BTW, I’ve been training with bands for over a month and I’m seeing gains.

Actually used bands on deployment in 2012 in Afghanistan. All we had out there were some basic prison gym weights. I incorporated these bands that I bought before I left and brought over in this little bag, and i tell you all my buddies kept trying to use them. Hey dude, I’ve used bands (and old skool steel springs early-late 70s) for years, as well as weights and pulleys. I’d suggest considering getting some guys to use bands, some weights and see where they go in a few months? It would be nice to have something substantive to finally shut up most muscleheads who only like weights. I don’t agree with super slow reps though; I don’t think they’re necessary it’s just another way of training and frankly, the bands already burn as it is, don’t like or believe there’s a real benefit from super slow as compared with other ways that are just as effective and not quite so grueling.

@guptageneralstores52434 жыл бұрын
It's been a year and half for me and it hasn't loosened yet. One lite band broke apart but thats coz I looped it on a very rough surface. They last a lot and even if they loosen a little, they can still be part of the gym as lower resistance. But as I said, no signs of loosening for about a year and half now and I think that already has covered for the cost.

Awesome video with real science/kinesiology. Theres a "competitor" with a bar that uses tons of BS info (use a BAR with the bands, you'll get HGH uploaded!!) but nothing makes sense in a classic muscle building forum. Keep it up.

Larry Plaxco hey my friend. Happy you’re enjoying the TA2 program! 👊 Welcome to the tribe! Yeah I try to keep the focus on simple, proven information and strategies. @petediako95165 жыл бұрын
Hi James, love the conteny and very grateful for the work you do. I have a question that I was trying to figure out during this video. Would you incorporate all these strategies in 1 workout, meaning 1 set more on mechanical tension, 1 more with peak contractions (metabolic) and 1 with more focus on eccentric? Or would you keep to 1 strategy per workout for a few workouts and switch strategies after? Thanks again
@JamesGrage5 жыл бұрын
Pete Diako hey my friend. Great question! I like to incorporate all into every exercise (meaning heavier sets of 10 reps, with the right intensity, focusing on good controlled negatives and then sets with higher reps with more focus on the squeeze. With that being said, I do stagger my workouts where every other one has a little more focus on really good pumps and then the next workout focus more on stronger lifts and harder eccentrics. You have to be careful with negatives though - doing them too frequently can be counter-productive
