I've struggled with squats in the past, but using a kettlebell seems to help me maintain better form. Definitely going to try these tips.

@@kettlebellmusclegain That is why i think its preferable to use a hard style kettlebell instead as the outward curved handles allow for much nicer&stabler grip as it rests on yr palm much like it would with a dumbell. Myself for instance use the 36kg kettlebell with the curved handles and i'm not running into the issues of my hands giving out before my legs do... to be fair I haven't worked with heavier bells then that because getting one imported all the way from US/UK were they make these cost an unreasonable amount, further more i got the nagging suspicion that my abs/cardio endurance wouldn't even be able to handle them(for reference i'm about 95kg myself looking into dropping to about 15% body fat) as with the 36kg bell after a set of 16-10 reps(first 2 sets is around 16reps the 5th&6th are barely 10reps) i'm utterly winded needing some 2-3 mins to properly catch my breath. Don't know why but for me the limiting factor isn't my hand grip but my abs(they seem to get almost as good of a workout from these as my legs do) and cardio endurance(more then 6sets is suicide as far as i'm concerned and not worth the risk of injury)

Thanks for this breakdown! I always wondered why I liked squatting with the free weight instead of the bell…. You hit the nail on the head... I have limited mobility in my wrists due to Rheumatoid Arthritis.. I still work with kettlebell, but you’ve helped me with the last piece of the puzzle ☺️ Thanks!!!

I injured both my wrists a few times from motorcycle falls and I concur. I never really had a lot of problem with cast bells, but I did when I made a switch to competition. The posts are in an awkward position. I spotted Gregory from Lebe Stark doing the way you advise and I thought it wasn't very "manly" looking at the time having being into hardstyle. 😂 But having dropped 'styles' and found a cross between both hard/sport styles.....not alone is it the most comfortable position to hold for a GS with competition bells, I found it also allows you to handle way more weight. Thanks for sharing this solid advice.

Was just trying to do goblet squats yesterday. A 32 kg bell, horns in my hands, but with the kettlebell up. It kept tipping back and hitting me in the chest and chin. Pushed through it, but I knew there had to be a better way.

You should do a video addressing the "WTF Effect" where people claim to experience significant gains in the maxs of their basic lifts after adding kettlebells to their exercise routines. I've seen it talked about before but have never seen a good video on tbe subject

I have maintained my deadlift very well doing mostly swings for 6 months or so. For deadlift, absolutely helps. I personally never felt that kettlebells increased my squat or bench, another very long block of swings, snatches, clean and presses and so on did maintain my strength on the bench press and the deadlift. But no real what the hell effect for me. I didn't do more pull-ups or squat more or anything I didn't expect. I also did an alternating 2 weeks block of 2 weeks Kettlebell double C&J, sled drags, swings, sprints, jumps, explosive pushups and sled rows/pulling. The double Kettlebell clean and jerk long cycles were the main move. Explosive exercises. On the other 2 weeks I did mainly bench, squat, deadlift, pull-ups, rows. Slow grind exercises. Worked quite well, I was able to progress both areas consistently, avoided any overuse injuries, kept fresh, fun. I was recovering from either stimulus differently, so I could go for a very long time without stalling. Not for beginners though. Kettlebells are cool, but not magical. I personally never experienced a real wth effect. Kettlebells did teach me a lot about moving my body and utilizing momentum, using explosive power to get things done and all round how to handle weights in any position.

That's it. I don't believe in WTH. Just more experience in movement and challenges that other weights don't provide. Different tools to get the complete job done

While not as much weight can be used the whole body is used alot. . I've seen people squat over 450 to 500 plus without hands on the bar. Just balance

I am very unhappy with my body and don’t feel comfortable going to gyms. Can I lose weight by doing kettle bell exercises and cardio at home? Or do I need to use every piece of equipment at a gym? I really have no idea.

I'm sorry to hear you feel that way I understand a little bit of that at some point in my life You absolutely can do everything you need to be strong or change your physique at home with kettlebells and nutrition I have many people that do my www.KBMuscle.com programs and get into the exact size or feeling that they want

I agree. I swing my 60kg upside down. I guess what catches people off guard wondering about being able to do heavy goblets is their mentality to keep their feet close and elevated by a weight plate. I personally cringe at it Everytime. I'd rather be barefoot, wide stance like I do with my swings when I squat.

Is it okay to hold goblet squats for 15 seconds? I’ve managed to get up to doing 15 reps for 15 seconds each so far.
