I found this podcast informative. However, it was breaking up between 16:00-17:00-minute mark.

So indulgences can't get you salvation. Can it get you time out of purgatory? Is there biblical support for this? Genuinely curious.

It's a matter of speculation whether we actually experience the process of purgatory as having a duration. It's usually presented that way, but this may be an image that helps us understand that the more greatly we are attached to sin then the more extensive will be the process of having its effects removed from us. That being said, whether it is lesser 'time' or lesser 'intensity' or such, yes indulgences and becoming more detached and healed from sin in this life can reduce what we have to go through after death to be prepared to enter into God's presence. Below is a link to an article that walks through the biblical principles involved: www.catholic.com/tract/primer-on-indulgences

Scripture has it in 1 Peter 4:8 that charity toward others atones for multitude of sins. Even our Lord is quoted in Matthew 10:42 that even a cup of water given in his name will not be overlooked on the day of judgement.
