Can You Climb Mt. Shasta in 24 Hours...
Climbing Mt. Shasta is a big challenge. Climbing it in 24 hours in winter is an amazing adventure up one of California's biggest peaks.
I am a channel who hikes. I go to places like the Grand Canyon, Yosemite, Lake Tahoe, Patagonia, Nepal, Mexico, Costa Rica, New Zeland, Colorado, Washington, Yellowstone. I traveled to almost every country I the world.
I am also kinda like channels like Drew Binsky,
I am also kinda like channels like California Through My Lense, livehardxlovehard,
Mediocre Amateur, and Yongsung Kim

I can’t imagine climbing Mount Shasta any way other than in a day. Having to carry a heavy overnight pack halfway up the mountain and trying to sleep up there just seems HARD, HARD, HARD. Granted, I have never even done Avalanche Gulch (only Clear Creek in summer conditions). But even so, climbing Shasta as a backpack just seems like it would make things a whole lot more difficult.

I got a question I always go around late August to MT shasta so not really snowing just mainly the peak from what I can see a need I’ve hiked up a little bit here and there but never fully to the summit, do you know how hard it would be without the snow ? Thanks in advance cheers amazing video/ videos🎉
@stevenuseda6317

Very dangerous to do without the snow on the avalanche gulch route due to frequent rockfall. Better to climb in may or early June on this route or if not climb via the clear creek route

Many years ago, I climbed Mt. Shasta via the Avalanche Gulch route, in mid-October. I climbed through the night, since there was a full moon for illumination. There was no snow on the entire route, except for crossing the summit snowfield, maybe a couple hundred feet, and quite level. I went through the Red Banks, an opening in the middle, where I could brace myself with both arms on the walls. Misery Hill was a cake walk, just a gentle climb for the rest of the hike. I had tried a couple of times earlier in the year with crampons and ice axe, but that steep climb from Helen Lake to the Red Banks always did me in, and I always had to do a few self-arrests after slipping in the snow. This time, I made it to the summit, and it was probably 70-degrees, sunny and warm. I've always regretted that I didn't take a sleeping bag and stay overnight on the summit, as is shown here on someone else's KZbin video. I'd love to do it again, but I'll have to be content watching everybody else's videos!

DO NOT glisssde with crampons on. So many unnecessary accidents, broken bones, and rescues because of this.

How do you think it would be this time of year?
@theworldhiker1
@theworldhiker1 2 жыл бұрын
I think the snow is melting quickly at lower elevations...I would try to go sooner than later to use crampons and not have to slide on the volcanic rock.
