I think it would be a good idea to have a show specifically dedicated to people who are still struggling with deconstruction. It would be very helpful to have conversations that target the lingering questions and concerns of agnostic/ "almost" athiests type of callers like Brian. There are many people like that who just need a little push to make that final leap. People forget how difficult it is to break ties with religion and the general concept of "god."

Advice to theist callers. Be prepared to explain succinctly and specifically what you believe and why. Be prepared to offer a definition of the God you believe in and supply some kind of reason why you believe in that God, and why anyone else should believe it. That is the very minimum requirement. If you are not prepared to do either of those things, you will be shot down in flames, immediately, so don’t bother calling into the show. Also, please listen to at least ten episodes of a show before you call in, so you can get an accurate idea of what to expect. Callers sometimes get frustrated or disoriented when the host asks a question that you haven’t thought about. Then you will accuse the hosts of being unreasonable and combative, which they are not. They just ask questions for clarification, not to embarrass you. Just do your homework before you call. Edit: NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER interrupt or talk over Matt or any other host. Matt’s (and most others) answer will either be “Shut the fu** up” or “no sir, no sir, no sir, no sir, OK, I’m done.” (click). (And that’s when he’s in a good mood.)

What Jimmy is talking about with Michael is r-reproduction and k-reproduction. R-reproduction is when something produces many offspring every pregnancy and doesn’t take care of them and many of the offspring die because of it(example rats). K-reproduction is when something produces few(normally one) offspring per pregnancy and take care of them. There is also differences like animals with r-reproduction mature faster and have kids really fast while k-reproduction animals mature slower and have kids way less often.

Suspended disbelief: When I was 5 or 6 years old, my parents gave me books about Aesop’s fables, Mother Goose stories, Fairy tales, etc., and almost all of those stories had talking animals. I asked my Dad if animals can really talk, and he told me that it was make-believe (which I later labeled Suspended disbelief). I put those books on my make-believe shelf, along with Mickey Mouse, Peter Rabbit, and Winnie the Pooh. One day my well-meaning but deluded Presbyterian grandmother gave me a book of Bible stories for children. In the very first story, I found a talking snake. That book went straight to the make-believe shelf, where it has remained for over 65 years.

I don't think they quite got what Michael's issue was. It seems to me that his issue was that he thought that there must have been a first human (or pair of humans) that could then sexually reproduce to produce more humans. And that this pair of humans couldn't have come from suddenly being born to a previous species, so they must have been somehow 'created' magically. Basically he just doesn't understand the concept of gradual change over time from one species to another.

One of my 'favorite' examples of the mislabelling of "Islamaphobia" is the Bill Maher interview with Sam Harris where Ben Affleck interrupts to attack Sam Harris and when Sam Harris says "Islam is the mother of all bad ideas" Ben Affleck says "Oh my God that is so racist!". The clip went viral.
