Dr. Raj reminds me of my own family doctor... she is younger and Indian as well. She is also the nicest, sweetest doctor I have ever had. p.s. No, don't drink while you're pregnant. Unless you want a fetal alcohol baby.

Something to keep in mind for those that think drinking is 'fine' when pregnant.. The affects alcohol has on you in one glass or so isn't a great deal, maybe a little bit right? Imagine what it is doing to such a small little creature.. I read somewhere that one glass of alcohol has the baby 'Drunk' for weeks.. imagine what you are doing to your poor little one? Why would you want to even risk the chances of harm or defects? Just don't drink. (If its that important to you then don't have a baby)

If you can't give up alcohol for 40 weeks, you probably shouldn't be a mother. It's not that serious.

The first woman's question isn't actually that stupid. There have been many studies from Denmark, the UK, Germany, etc that have all shown that the occasional drink (one/two per week max) does not have any negative effect on the child during a pregnancy. Believe it or not, depending on the country, there are also plenty of doctors who say that the occasional drink while pregnant is ok. Also, there have been no studies that show that light drinking (as mentioned above) leads to birth defects.

People still smoke heavily and drink heavily while pregnant and it`s quite disturbing to see it. So I hope the US does something about smoking while pregnant.

But as far as I've ever heard, most doctors say that because the tests/studies are essentially inconclusive, they say to avoid all alcohol to be on the safe side.

They have done something about it, they put it on the label "Pregnant woman should not use this product"

the problem is that if something happens the doctor gets sued in the US if something happens they cant say "well in denmark its ok". doctors have to stick to the standard in their country until there are enough studies in that country that show the contrary and everyone agrees to change the standard.

Hahaha! You could also order sweet potato tempura rolls... sooo good. The one restaurant my bf and I go to, there is a vegetarian roll that has asparagus and mushroom. It sounded good from the menu but tasted HORRIBLE and just wrong.

My doctor said occasional drink okay just don't over do. My niece who is pregnant told me the doctor told her no baths and I was shocked because I lived in the bathtub because my back hurt so much and I was afraid to take any medication.

i just want to say that NOT everybody in Denmark thinks it is okay to drink when you are having a baby! i do not know ANYBODY that drink while there having a baby:-) BTW love you Bethenny:-)

My mom told me that while you should never drink much during your pregnancy, if you are going to, you should wait until you are 3 or 4 months pregnant because by that time, the baby is fully formed and then just has to grow. My mom has had 5 pregnancies and all of her children turned out fine.

I didn't say they could just say that. It really should go without saying that doctors have to follow the specific standard of care in the country that they're in.

a lot of doctors say red wine in one week during before the end of your pregnancy is fine but that’s the last month

the occasional drink does not hurt. All depends on the woman and the individual pregnancy.

while i was in my 8 month being pregnant' something went wrong and i hurt that cause me not pee at all and the only thing that did help me to pee was my doctor decide to have me drink 1 to 2 of 12 ounce a beer a day and it did help me to go and pee, so i did that for a week and i stop and it start it up again not peeing..so i drink beer everyday. my baby was born nothing wrong but a healthy beautiful baby , what was so strange i went back peeing better after she was born. never know, but the doctor help me from hurting in pain when i couldn't pee.. and i have been around for years' knowing some women that would drink only a beer 2 or 3 times out the week with their dinners, but they was not getting drunk when being pregnant and their childrens came out healthy babies too... Now if there Women that is during so much that not taking care of them self that is being a heavy drinker of hard stronger drinks, that maybe doing alone with nothing but heavy drugs everyday & night putting in their body while being pregnant, Well yes' i would say and think, yes that could or will cause some health and minds problems for their babies down the line.
