@@tahiracottam5 Yeah obviously they are not part of the hand, as the original comment stated, but they are all, with the exception of "fingers" listed as singular body parts which is why I used the word "also" to posit an additional, and I believe, valid interpretation. The problem with these types of quizzes is that they're exercises in lateral thinking and multiple answers could be correct. The key is whether or not you can logically justify your answer. Consider the first question: Find the odd word from the list: Loud, Noisy, Roaring, Quiet. The answer given assumes "Quiet" is the odd word out basing their reasoning on the definitions of the words, and that's certainly a valid answer. However, it is also a logical answer to say that "Loud" is the odd word out because all of the others are two-syllable words. Neither answer is incorrect from a logical standpoint. Question 2 posits "Piano" as the odd word out because it is the only musical instrument, but you could just as easily say "Printer" is the odd word out because Typewriter, Piano, and Computer all have keyboards. Their answer for #3 doesn't even make sense: "Arm" and "Elbow" are not parts of the hand. They are parts of the upper limbs on the body, but again, we could go another way and say that "Fingers" is the only plural or "Elbow" is the only joint.

You can also make an argument for yellow, as it the only secondary color in the colors of light. For stage lighting and computer graphics, the primary colors are red, green, and blue. On the last one: Green is indeed a primary color. Yeah, you were taught in elementary school that the primary colors are red, blue, and yellow. But the truth is there's _two_ sets of primary colors - One for light sources (like the computer screen you're looking at) and one for reflected light. The light source primary colors are Red, Green and Blue (hence the term RGB). The primary colors for reflected light (one version anyway) are red, yellow, and blue. Another similar primary color set for reflected light is cyan, magenta, and yellow. This one is used in color printers.

@@kingofthejungle3833 If you're mixing lights by pointing them at a white screen, the colours you need are red, green and blue - trust me, as a former lighting technician I've done it many times! These are called "additive" primaries because you're adding the colours together in light, and if you add all three you get white. If you look at the ink colours for your inkjet printer they will be magenta, yellow and cyan because what you're interested in is the colours they reflect. If you mix any two you get the colour that they both reflect, which will be one of the additive primaries. If you mix all three you get black. These are called the "subtractive" primaries. Artists often use what they describe as "red", "yellow" and "blue" because the paint pigments are near enough to produce the results they want when they mix them, but really they're closer to magenta ("red") and cyan ("blue"). The Color Question I enjoyed doing this, so maybe sharing it will add some welcome flavor. (If it's edited, I added more later.) There are plenty of equally legitimate solutions to the "four colors" question. Perhaps the most veiled one is the fact that red cannot, in standalone fashion, be used to characterize innate human characteristics. The other three can. If I say you're blue, you're sad ...yellow, you're cowardly ...green, you're inexperienced. But if I say you're red, I can only be remarking about something external. Perhaps you're sunburned ...blushing ...ruddy. And while, yes, I can say you're 'red with anger,' that's not [the] color referenced in standalone fashion. Other examples, by category, include the following. color: Green isn't a primary color. Red neighbors none of the other three in the rainbow. Yellow cannot be mixed with one of the others to make brown. nature: Red cannot be distinguished by cats. culture: Blue isn't part of a standard traffic signal. Yellow is not associated with a political party. Blue isn't part of a traditional hotdog or hamburger. Red isn't a karate belt. Blue is a conventional shade for a men's suit. Green is associated with a holiday. Green has no bird variant (compare peacock, cardinal, and canary). Green is a common surname. Red is a common nickname. language: Blue is French. Blue can be a verb. Yellow isn't a homonym (compare blew, read, Greene). Yellow has a slang variant (yeller). Green doubles as a representative noun (1.putting/bowling surface 2.money). Red can be changed into another word by starting it with another letter (bred). Red can be changed into another common word by inserting a letter into it (read, reed, rend, rued). Blue is an anagram (lube). Yellow has two syllables. Blue ends in a vowel. Red has a single vowel. Red has no long vowel.

@thomasraywood679 Жыл бұрын
@@MichaelClark-uw7ex There's no self-evident distinction you're making here, sir, seeing as there are parrots in all four of these colors. I suspect you're toying with the idea of a parrot green to go with peacock blue, cardinal red, and canary yellow, but there's no habitual reference to a parrot green embedded in our culture.

I’m not sure if anyone else has mentioned it, but question 13 also has more than one answer. Choice A “Censure” is also a correct answer as the other three choices all begin with the letter “R”. Additionally, you may want to rethink the wording of your instruction for each “Question”. Not all of your examples are “a word”. (The two sport related questions.) A better instruction would be: Find the odd TERM, or odd ITEM from the CHOICES below. I hope these suggestions will help you in creating error-free, valid tests in the future. 😁

Regarding Question 2: Typically, these types of puzzles involve 3 that share a characteristic, and 1 that doesn't. "Not a musical instrument" isn't in itself a characteristic. If it was, any answer would be valid. For example, the typewriter was the only one invented in the 19th century, and the computer is the only one that can do calculations. Then on Question 3, you say that the arm is part of the hand. Umm, no.

In question 2, _piano_ is the supposed be the odd word because it is the only musical instrument, okay, but a _computer_ is the only item that doesn´t necessarily use paper. (Player pianos play automatically from a roll of perforated paper). This is a legitimate answer, so I think this question could be better expressed.

The question with deer, zebra, hyena, and giraffe could actually have two answers: 1. the one given that hyena was a carnivore while deer, zebra, and giraffe are all herbivores OR 2. Zebra, hyena, and giraffe are only native to Africa while the deer can be found in just about every continent. Also the question with printer, computer, typewriter, and piano could have two answers as well: 1. The one given that the piano was the only musical insyrument OR 2. All but the printer have keys. Unfortunately, tests such as this one have one major flaw: How a person scores on the test would be affected by culture, location, and social (financial) standing. A person who has not had any education might not know many of the answers because they had not been exposed to much of the information in this quiz

Also got the one wrong about football clubs. I have no idea about football clubs. @RegisMichelLeclerc Жыл бұрын
Well, maybe not so clear: all but "printer" have a keyboard, and nowadays, "computer" is a musical instrument indeed. red-green-blue are definitely primary colours in additive synthesis (hence "RGB", yellow is the sum of red and green) and it's the system used for screens and anywhere light is added, while red is not a primary colour in substractive synthesis (CMY[K], used where where light is reflected and therefore substracted, such as in printing) as red is the sum of M (Magenta) and Y (Yellow). In paint, the Magenta component is also known as "Tyrian purple". There is no schema in which Red is the odd one unless you're colour-blind and skipped art class and physics class.

@rjones6219 Жыл бұрын
Question 20 is wrong (as I suspected). As anyone who understands physics, printing and vision knows, the primary colours are red, blue and green. In our eyes there are three colour receptor cells, they detect red, blue and green light. From those three colours we get the colours of the rainbow. However when painting, what we see is reflected light, this light, has one or more of the primary colours removed. As an example, when you use red paint, it reflects the red light, but absorbs the blue and green. And strictly speaking, those colours are not red, blue and yellow, but magenta, cyan and yellow.
