Thanks for this guys. This is content for the home grower! I gave up watching you Tad because you were doing alot of stuff based on commercial grows and it just didnt apply to me. I see you are getting back to content for everyone now. Long may it continue buddy!

I appreciate the feedback. I was always under the impression that the commercial stuff applied to home growers too in regards to best practice but maybe it wasn't translating as well as I thought it was. I am working on putting out more content and also doing a KZbin Live every Wednesday at 3 PM PST with @soil_doctor (Bryant Mason) and am going to be doing something here soon with Chad Westport as well where we do a live but talking specifically to the home grower and covering some more basic concepts. Thanks!

Haven’t watched yet. Curious to hear what is said. I use a lot of gypsum. 15lbs per cubic yard of soil-less peat mix when mixing up new media. I also use other sulfates (potassium, iron, manganese, copper, zinc). My last test results on standard test were 7.1 pH, 1.2 EC, 3715 lbs/acre Ca, 490 ppm S, 74.11% Ca Base Saturation. On sat paste using DI water, 1113 ppm Soluble Salts, 225 ppm Ca, 164 ppm S, 64.95% Ca Base Saturation

Sulfur ties up magnesium

Gypsum is what coal burning power plants use in their emissions scrubbers so depending on where you source your gypsum you could be getting sulphur and a lot more than a sulphur toxicity

Gypsum = calcium sulfate and they have agricultural grade. I’m not familiar with what you mentioned I’ll have to read more about it but we do test the gypsum we carry at KIS and it’s very clean on heavy metals. I don’t see any issues with sulfur toxicity, see my comments in the description above as to why.

Bullshit. If you have legit info post a lab analysis or a label

There are numerous threads online where experienced growers with top crops have m3 tests showing S values at 3 to 5k ppm, no problem. Also dr.Dick is a published expert on ag applications of gypsum his research shows little to no impact on soil biology from regular judicious gypsum use.
