To be fair to Kojima in Death Stranding, the names of Sam's handlers are all codenames. I don't think it's for any tactical reason, at least not one I recall being stated, but it sort of feels similar to, like, trucker handles or something. Something they call each other over the radio, though I don't understand why Sam doesn't have one in that case.

I remember discussing fonts with my digital art teacher, he emphasised that it wasn’t a bad font, but it’s so overused that anything written in it is immediately mocked for it. I ended up using a different font, but the spaces between words for it are so big that not only did I have to make them smaller manually, but all of the spaces between words are in a different font than the rest of the text.

To ride a moped/motorcycle in the UK you need to take a Compulsory Basic Training (CBT) course. Its an afternoon/day where you learn the basics and at the end of the day they sign you off as competent or not. If you pass that day then you can ride motorcycles up to 150cc (top speed ~70mph?) with L plates on the bike. Then you can do further tests more like a standard driving test to get rid of the L plates and use higher CC bikes. I think if you're older than 22 or something you can skip straight to the more formal tests and not do the CBT?

150 cc is not a motorcycle, it's barely a moped, and in the rest of Europe bikes that size can't legally go faster than 45 km/h (~30 mph)

Pretty much, 24 is the age where you can obtain an unrestricted motorcycle license. Unless of course you did two years on the previous category, in which case you can take a progressive access route. The max displacement for a CBT is 125cc not 150cc, not that it makes much difference since the real limits are the BHP and power to weight requirements that they put on the learner license. Then we have the A2 which has a max power output of 35kw, but no engine displacement limit. You can restrict motorcycles down to an A2 spec, but only if they don't exceed 94BHP, or some power to weight ratio stat.

I work for a dispatch warehouse in Outback Australia that supplies merchandise to assorted businesses & shops in town and in neighboring communities, we get to see all those usual unusual codenames that they identify themselves as, but one place in particular hit the lottery... A lot of people forget that Father Ted was extremely controversial in Ireland when it came out and a lot of people wanted to ban it. There's a reason that a show set in Ireland, filmed in Ireland, with all Irish actors about Irish priests was produced by ITV, because the state broadcaster RTE, which was the only real TV channel in Ireland, would never touch a show like that. In Ireland you did not criticise the Catholic church, and you certainly didn't make a comedy taking the piss out of the church. Father Ted was huge in Ireland because it broke the stigma of criticising the church for the population and in many ways it pushed forward a lot of reforms in Ireland which broke the power of the church over the government. Not only is it a brilliant show and an icon of television, it helped change Ireland for the better.

What's even worse is unobtanium is an engineering joke that has existed since the 1950s to describe a material that fits all the physical requirements for a task, but is hard to get or currently unknown. Titanium was unobtanium during development of the SR-71. Avatar just took the term and decided to roll with it. As a side, unobtanium is synonymous with the term "handwavium". Sometimes used by sci-fi authors to describe plot devices that can't be realistically explained. In Star Trek the transporters Hisenberg compensators are handwavium. Tl;Dr Unobtanium is an engineering joke that Avatar ruined.

The funniest part about Star Wars names to me is the fact people acted like the reveal of Darth Vader is the biggest reveal in cinematic history when his name is literally Darth Vader.. Darth is a variation on Dark and Vader is a variation on the German word for father (vater). Then at the end of this video Lewis mentions the worst names being characters named for what they are. From the beginning the "biggest cinematic reveal" was quite literally just named Dark Father..

This whole 'podcast' was an unmitigated joke. It begins with defending comic sans of all things from over the top hate, and then what do they do nonstop after that? Pile on baseless hate. These are bad character names? They're stock background characters, most not ever named directly. With Shmi, they cannot conceive the scope of trillions of persons in the Star Wars setting meaning names will have more variety than the Latin of Harry Potter? With Grievous they have a problem, and not Vader? They're titles not names. Again, these questions, and the slave bomb one, a few seconds of logic and imagination can answer, but it takes two minutes to ask them through all the fluff language (like; you know) that we end up with half an hour episodes now. They are just video formatted Reddit threads now, with all the wit and grand insights and anecdotes.

So the thing about Unobtainium though is that is has been used historically for any useful but hard to get material. I think during one of the world wars Titanium was known colloquially as Unobtainium. Basically it's just saying "Damn, that would sure be useful. Wish we had some of that haha."

Funny thing about the name "unobtanium", it is a term used in engineering to describe a theoretical material that fits technical requirements. Basically 'x' concept would be possible if 'y' material with specific properties existed. It is also used to refer to real world materials that are very rare, for example titanium was called unobtanium as a slang term in some engineering circles because they didn't have access to it at that time. People have also argued (and frankly I agree with them) that such a dumb name makes perfect sense and is a very realistic name. If a corporate drone ever got to name a material they would call it something like unobtanium and think they were being clever. I've seen similar examples first hand. There was a genealogy management program calling its save file type "legacy files", which is a term in programming that refers to files that can only be read by software that is outdated/obsolete.
