Great stuff as always. I’ve loved every one of your Beatles quiz videos! As a giant Beatles nerd myself, If you ever want to do a fun live or prerecorded head to head version of this kind of challenge, I would love to! In this challenge I found tempo, key, and most of all bass line to be the biggest giveaways. If you can remember 5-6 notes of the reversed bass line and flip then back around in your head, it’s a dead giveaway for a lot of them. A testament to how unique Paul’s bass arrangements were.

15/15 but damn this was weird! I couldn't tell the name of each song based on the reversed recordings but it somehow recalled the actual song in my mind and after singing it to myself I could easily name them. It's insane how recognisable each and every single one of their songs is. I don't consider a single Beatles track as bad or forgettable and they are the only band whose entire catalogue I can at least hum along. That's why they will always hold a special place in my heart and are surely one of the greatest bands of all time.
@Irys19972 жыл бұрын
I think it would have been a lot harder had it focused on the first 3 albums. The mid and late Beatles had so many distinctive rhythms and textures and instrumentation that you can get a lot from that alone. And when you couldn't, there was still an "oooo la la la" that stands out in the background even in reverse and tells the tale. The only one I missed was Can't Buy Me Love (because: early)

Track 7 is from the time when Paul started experimenting with "misterious" clues to entertain superstitious people. "I buried Paul" and "Turn me on, dead man" came later. But in 1966 the game was more innocent. He was thinking of palindromes, that's why he initially proposed REVOLOVER as the title for that album. He also started thinking of the USSR. Hence he seems to be singin in Russian when reversed. Добрый день, солнышко.

It's fun how different things can be clues. For Good Day Sunshine, it was the barrel-roll piano; for All My Loving, it was the triple meter guitar playing of John; for Oh Darling, it's the parallel voice harmony; for Birthday, the jangly piano; saxophones in Good Morning; sparse instrumentation for Can't Buy Me Love; and tambourine for "Hide Your Love Away." And in "For No One" there's a musical palindrome in the melody which helps. I was 14/15 just missing the final one. I usually got all of these within 2 seconds. I had trouble with the forward version by another youtuber, the one by the two musicians but in that case they played just the first beat. Also of interest are the wave forms - Helter Skelter is a flat wave form meaning constant volume, while Can't Buy Me Love has quite a lot of variation.

Wow, all the other ones were doable, but now my wife is home with the TV on, and even with earbuds in, it is really hard to focus versus when it. was completely quiet in here...the beat feels like She's a Woman, but don't think that's it...another reason for me why this one is tough is it's melody in reverse is cool, even could be turned into a good song, so it's hard to hear anything else once I got it in my head...I don't feel like I'm being fair, either, because I'm giving myself way more time on this one versus what you are taking...going into another room that's quiet...can't focus...well, I'm giving up on this one...guess can't win em all...wow...Can't Buy Me Love...wrong on that one...13. For No One 11. Good Morning Good Morning 12. This is the first one that's been a struggle to me... shocked after how easy the rest were. This can't be right... Another Girl? The bass and acoustic sounds like an earlier Beatles song, though. Doh! Of course it was... that acoustic and bass couldn't have been anything else... but I listened many times and still didn't get it. 13. You Never Give Me Your Money 14. This is great fun! Now I have to listen to all of our Beatle's vinyl back from the days of our youth.

Got 15/15, found it fairly easy tbh but I did have the same issue as you identifying Lovely Rita, knew the part but took me a moment to get the name in my mind especially as it’s the outro which is quite different to the main song. I found tempo, vocalist, instrumentation, chord changes and even key moments of the melody really gave most of them away pretty quickly. That was a fun video!

i found it easy. you just have to care on the beat and the sound and it is almost as easy as not in reverse. i found them all. thank you david for the video !

Really my favorite in this series. Thank you. Only got five but I started singing the song the usual way and fun to figure out. Such a clever video.

Hi! I listened to it again and I missed two--Can't Buy Me Love and one other.

14/15...I couldn't recognise "I've Got A Feeling" at all, and struggling a bit with "Oh Darling" and "You Never Give Me Your Money", but remembered them after repeating the samples few more times.

An option for more quizzes is the simple one of repeating the formula from the others, but with other songs (there is plenty to take from).

I feel like that's one more testament to how great The Beatles were, some of those parts are just so distinctive that the impression is indelible even backwards. I feel like All My Loving is the best example in this set.

Six or seven. You know the band a LOT BETTER than I do. Well done. The reverse HELTER SKELTER is pretty neat.

Funny! The piano at 10:03 sounds just like it is when played forwards! Does that mean they inserted at least parts of backwards piano in Birthday??

Great! I missed "Can't buy me love" and "You won't see me", what is much better as I have expected. For some reason, songs in reverse seem quite recognizable.

I, too, an enthralled with all of your Beatles quizzes. I only got 5 right, but 4 of them were ones you missed!

A few were really easy to those of us with a good musical ear and so familiar with Beatles music but damn they have such a huge catalog that you really have to be on top of your Beatles game to do well on these "guess" videos. Either way they are so much fun for any true Beatles fans.

Holy shit. Got 15/15. I was not expecting that. All those years of obsessing over their music finally paid off.

Fantastic quiz!!! Very apropo for Beatle tunes to play them backwards...I got 14 out of 15. Typed my guess for each one in this comment as the video was progressing: I'm Looking Through You, I've Got a Feeling, Baby You're a Rich Man, Lovely Rita, Helter Skelter, All My Loving, Good Day Sunshine, Oh Darling, Everybody's Got Something to Hide Except for Me and My Monkey, For No One, Good Morning Good Morning, Can't Buy Me Love (got this one wrong- thought it was Another Girl!), You Never Give Me Your Money, You've Got to Hide Yourself Away, You Won't See Me. Perhaps it's easier to guess than expected- as some have mentioned. If you know the songs well you can easily figure out who's singing, and that plus tempo and instrumentation help you figure them out.
