Lol, I live in Congleton and I love my town...However it could well appear in a country and western type film as I swear I see tumbleweeds when I walk down the main street these days 🤣. Sadly it's a dying town like so many now 😕

Great video! I moved to Congleton a couple of years ago (although I've visited friends here countless times), one of the best decisions I ever made. It's a lovely place with some fine venues to drink - I live pretty much in the town center and I'm spoilt for choice! There used to be a fantastic bar called The Young Pretender just down the road from there, closed down a while back but there seems to be work going on there, perhaps it will reopen, any Congleton folks know anything about this? Anyway, thanks for the glowing review of my new hometown and its fine hostelries, hope you make it back one day! 😊

Great vid. Shame you missed out on the Throstles Nest (beyond the Beartown Tap) which reopened last year after being closed for about 12 years. Excellent pub. The Beartown Tap & the White Lion used to be connected to the Beartown Brewery. (but they still sell Beartown beers) There is a bar in the Beartown Brewery (not far from the Beartown Tap) called The Den which is now the official "Tap"

Well done on you’re 2500 pubs Well done on this Congleton video I lived up the road in Biddulph I only used Congleton a few times but wish I’d used it more if I go back il definitely go to some of those pubs , it’s always been nice tho 😊 The boat was put there in the sept ‘96 who was Joe Terry as you said a local businessman I’ve passed it so many times such a shame but doomed to failure 😣 Great one guys Phil

Absolutely great videos here that are close to my heart. Cos I love pubs and beer. I like the fact that you check out the local beers on your crawls. Now there's a site, of which I'm sure you're acquainted, called Ratebeer and the ratio of recommended places( bars, beer shops, brewers) to the population is a good indicator of how good a place is in all respects. So Leek rates highly, Burton of course. But Halifax with only 90000 people has about 30 recommended places. Plus it's got a proper naff but probably enjoyable nightclub called Acapulco. So Slough with 150000 people has 2 recommended places on Ratebeer; one's a Spoons and one's a grocery store on the trading estate that does a few decent beers. Do NOT bother going to Slough.

Haha, yeah I keep meaning to get myself on ratebeer... but I already spend about 15 minutes each pub glued to my phone updating Facebook, Instagram and filming these videos and writing my notes... I think Holly would kill me if I started rating the beers on another site too 😂

Nothing special the Unicorn unfortunately. Pubs around town are far better. Wish the Throstles Nest had the Unicorn.
