Very interesting! I was thinking what makes kalimba's C and C' tines vibrate lower or higher? Is it the length of the tine or where it's attached with the top metal bar? If you hummer the lower C high enough it would sound the same as the higher C. 🤔

Ah! I just looked up Kalimba diagram and the top bar is actually called 'vibrating bar'!

Yes that's right. The length of the tine determines the pitch. The shorter the tine the shorter the vibration the higher the pitch. The vibration bar works similar as the frets on a guitar.

In theory you could tune all tines to C if you hammer them down to the same length.
