What are your thoughts on a 5-string violin (or 5-string viola)? -- Just stumbled onto your video, and I enjoyed it very much. Always nice to see people having a good time together.
@TheEightStrings4 жыл бұрын
I like a 5-string instrument. With a little bit of adjustment, you can get used to it quickly and play both violin & viola pieces. The 5-string versions are more commonly found in electric instruments, but there are also some custom made acoustic instruments. 😊🎶
@RockStarOscarStern6344 жыл бұрын
@@TheEightStrings Glasser makes them in Carbon Composite as well as ones that include all the accessories & even 5 String Cellos. Even though the 5 String Violin C String sounds different from that same String on a 5 String Viola (etc for each string) they could blend in to create a special sound.
@RockStarOscarStern6344 жыл бұрын
@@TheEightStrings They are also on Acoustic-Electric Instruments. The 5 String Violins, 5 String Violas, & 5 String Cellos (that's what I'm getting as a Multi-Instrumentalist soon) all tuned the same way kinda remind me of Bobby Hicks:kzbin.info/www/bejne/pYa0eqR7m5dgrsk who plays 5 String Fiddle & because one of the Fiddlers from his band sadly died, he added a Low C String to his Violin so he can play the Harmony parts below the Lead Lines.

They got the violinist to play the viola though? The style is diff in both so it was harder to tell the diff For the first one I guessed B just because it was more likely to be like that (the strings were less resonant but more "clear")

The Eight Strings They do make 5 String Violin & 5 String Violas that tuned the same way (C, G, D, A, E) (Glasser makes them in Carbon Composite & the outfits include all accessories the instrument & even a case) & you'll really hear the differences in sound when you play the same music on both.
@TheEightStrings4 жыл бұрын
I’ve heard of those, but didn’t have the chance to try one. I’ve tried though a 6-strings Viper from Mark Woods and those are fantastic 🎶✌️
@RockStarOscarStern6344 жыл бұрын
@@TheEightStrings The 7 String Viper adds on a Low Bb (6 String Cobra has High E & Low F added). The additional strings facilitate transposition, the frets make it easier to find the notes w/o having to put tapes on the fingerboard, geared tuners make tuning simpler, the shape adds a bit of rock n Roll, & yeah the strap makes it easier to hold, which is why in my opinion 7 String Fretted Vipers & 6 String Fretted King Cobra Cellos (with straps included plus case etc) are alot easier in many ways to start with than Standard Violins, Violas, & Cellos (eventually they'll have 6 String Upright Electric Basses tuned in Fifths an Octave below the Cobra Cellos for bigger boom, as well as 7-9 String Versions) cause they are alot sturdier, & the physics makes them easier to get around with playing in every key really in tune (as well as practicing via Amp-Phones), plus string players can sing away their hearts out to back up the choir which is even cooler. The high price of electric bowed instruments I see in the Electric Violin Shop is kinda a mistake because (like with Electric Guitars or any Electric amplified instruments that plug into an amp which are physically easier to start with) the sturdier construction does reduce damage & that's something they should keep an eye on. Fractional Sized Vipers (up to 7 Strings & Frets), as well as Fractional Sized King Cobra Cellos (up to 6 Strings, Frets, & the additional Strap) should be available someday. Electric Bowed instruments fit into every setting from Orchestra, & even Marching Band cause now your Band music can add on Strings & more rock n roll.

@@TheEightStrings Adding on a Case & all accessories to every instrument rocks. I played any way you want it by Journey on my Kazoo:kzbin.info/www/bejne/a4vbnKGkr5mErbM & also on the worlds largest Harmonica (Big ol Bass-Chord Harmonica).
@RockStarOscarStern6344 жыл бұрын
@@TheEightStrings Well you can already hear a difference between the 5 String Violin & 5 String Viola tuned the same way. Of course Mark Wood could play this song on the 7 String Fretted Viper:kzbin.info/www/bejne/mJXVY2puapqJa6s w/ Hernandez Hideaway cause every song needs a bit of Rock n Roll to get the best texture. Choir w/ just Piano & Rhythm Section isn't enough so let's bump it up w/ Concert Band & Strings, so the Hal Leonard company is working on Concert Band & String Orchestra versions of Light in the Hallway arranged by Roger Emerson to go with the Choral arrangement.
