On your third option where you have the bubble delayed: I use that with a slight tweak: I set a MIDI control Change pad that I tap to adjust the tempo. As the drummer counts in, I tap the same tempo and as long as he's mostly tight, it works pretty well. If he drifts, then I can adjust with a simple double tap again. Wonderful tutorial, thank you! I need to start practicing option 4 as I agree that 3 is limited to a "dubble" and not a true "bubble."

I am new to your channel, i appreciate that you are an actual reggae piano player and have enjoyed learning from your channel. i would love to see more instructional video's if possible to help us transition into playing reggae more fluently. Perhaps when you teach a certain technique it would help if you used one of your tracks and played over it using the technique you were teaching. This would allow us to absorb your instruction and feel what you are playing rather than thinking so much about it. It would help because once we have learned then we could incorporate it into some of the many tracks you have posted on this page. You are an excellent instructor and player and to those of us who desire to learn, it is not easy to find reputable instructors so we turn to you. In the famaous words of Oliver Twist "Can I have some more please?"

ARe you using two midi keyboards into an audio interface? The first hard hit plays the piano and the second soft hit starts the organ bubble? I have a Nord electro and I am using it as my organ , in which I think it can function as a midi keyboard in mainstage as well?. I will use a true midi keyboard like novation launchkey for the top keyboard. I have no doubt about it being programmable into 3 sections to do leads with the right hand. Mainstage seems the most clear to see sections. Thanks for the patch downloads.
@buffbaffTV Жыл бұрын
Hey Sam, I am using a KORG Nautilus (bottom keyboard with weighted keys) and an Arturia Keylab61 (upper keys), but it will work with any Keyboard that has an USB or MIDI Output although I have to say that I sometimes had problems with Nord and MIDI. Or let’s it is not as easy as with other keyboards. I connect them both via USB directly into my MacBook (or via USB-Hub). The rest of the splitting into sections and velocity zones all happens in MainStage itself. As I said it also works in Ableton, but MainStage gives you a much better view because it is especially made for Live Keyboarding. As an output device I use an iconnectivity PlayAudio12, but any other audio interface like an focusrite Scarlett for example will work as well.
@sampratt4409 Жыл бұрын
@@buffbaffTV HI , Does the Korg Nautilus create the double hit sound or is it mainstage that creates the bubble and bang all in one hand.? Im just wondering if the keyboard has to have some key sensitivity or not?
@buffbaffTV Жыл бұрын
@@sampratt4409 for the double hit u just need a delay. I did that with MainStage, but Nautilus could do it as well. For the Bubble (like in example 4) you need to have velocity sensitive keys.
@sampratt44092 жыл бұрын
Thanks for sharing. Wondering if what you did was tie the wham to the bubble somehow on the bottom midi keyboard ? (midi) . Can you change velocity from ableton ? Do you recommend using mainstage over ableton? Thanks
@buffbaffTV2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your feedback. Yes, I tie the „rhythm keys“ together with my left hand on the bottom keyboard and play the „lead keys“ with my right. This is also possible in Ableton. You just need to insert the MIDI FX called „Velocity“, set its mode to „Gate“ and adjust the „Range“ and „Lowest“ values. Ableton is a great software and I definitely use it for other stuff, but for this specific style - me playing the keyboards in a reggae band - I prefer to work in MainStage.
@sampratt44092 жыл бұрын
@@buffbaffTV thanks for the clarification. So you are using two midi keyboards? The first hard hit plays the piano and the second soft hit starts the organ bubble? I have a Nord electro and I am using it as my organ , in which I think it can function as a midi keyboard in mainstage. I will use a true midi keyboard like novation launchkey for the top keyboard. I have no doubt about it being programmable into 3 sections to do leads with the right hand. So you have a laptop and audio interface when performing? Pardon all the questions. Im kind of a newbie to playing with the technology but have a lot of piano experience. I look forward to more videos . Mainstage seems the most clear to see sections. Thanks for the patch downloads.
