I am from Russia, Western Siberia to be exact (no, it’s not that bad ). My husband and I lived in Asheville since 2004 and absolutely love it here! In 2015 we became parents to a baby boy, Dmitry (named after my grandfather). And in January 2020 Dmitry became a big brother to Katya. We now share our home with Romeo, who is a jack russell (We lost our first dog in 2022).

I agree with you the food should not have been free unless they are residents. It should have been a way to raise more money for the community, but I'm sure it is their way to show they are working to rebuild and come back like before. I agree with you too about it just seems like a big show and I would be just like those residents that had an issue with the event. I do hope all of these communities are able to get back on their feet and back to their normal lives and can welcome tourist back in, but not until they are truly ready!! I do think people need to think long and hard about rebuilding in the same spot, at least I would not rebuild there. Sadly, that will cause a loss of some people as a result, but in the long run it may save lives and also the loss of homes and property once again in the future! Great video!!

A couple of weeks ago, you said there wasn't much damage in Black Mountain! To protect their privacy, I won't mention the location, but there were lots of places that were flooded. I would drive down the street and folks were piling all of the contents of their homes including insulation, cabinets, carpet and personal items, all along the side of the road. There were also houses that just collapsed. The route you took through the area looked OK, but several blocks away there was a lot of damage!

Thank you for sharing your insights! Are referring to the video I did with a local who lives there? It’s a similar situation here in Asheville and the whole buncombe county- certain areas make you feel like it’s all got so damaged, in reality 90% if not more had little to na damage. Also, what does that have to do with Chimney Rock?

@@flyntfoster4043 Chimney Rock and Lake Lure have always been huge tourist attractions, and yes, it’s very different when it’s a season for those who live there and don’t work in tourism industry. I guess you can say that those who are trying to survive right now love the money. Don’t you?

Doesn’t matter if it’s beautiful mountains in NC or a scenic River valley 40 miles west of Chicago. Realtors move in to make money selling property. Developers come in to make money building homes. Then, before you know it the place that was once peaceful and lovely, becomes overcrowded and ceases to be the place it once was. But in America, people are free to live where they choose. We have no laws to keep people out from areas as long as they can afford it. Greed drives it in some cases, but what you love about WNC is loved by many. We are really not owners of the land but we pay for the privilege of being its steward.

Why do i get the impression you are promoting real estate? Your business? Chimney Rock & its people are still suffering in fact most of wNC is still suffering you give the impression its not that bad! Ive already seen in comments i was surprised to see any building still standing, i thought it was wiped off the map. See what i mean? Ive never seen devastation like i did in September ever.im nearly dixty. It was the worst natural disaster the USA has seen. Im sorry if this has affected your real estate business. There are still hundreds of people missing, thousands dead although you will dispute this im sure. Please stop promoting your business out of other peoples misery.

@ I don’t know for sure either but based on others experience with this, if/when property owners try to do an insurance claim for any kind of damage, insurance company sends out adjusters and even structural engineers are involved to make these kind of conclusions. Does that make sense? There are still a lot of houses (not talking about business along that road) that weren’t damaged at all. Access to them might have been compromised
