Trike, I think what you said at the end is the most valuable thing here. "It can pay for my flight home." This is a good lens to approaching value of cards. It's practical to think that beyond a mere investment/collection perspective, these cards you are able to find and sell helps you further your hobby by paying off for shows, airline, hotels where the opportunities are even greater.
