Been airbnbing my 1972 airstream the last 2 years and made all my money back from renovating costs and purchase price. I'm actually up now on profits. :)

I want to do this. I have about house on an acre in the city which is a crazy situation but I’m lucky enough to own it. My situation is that I have no idea how to hook it up. Like for water and electricity. Any suggestions?

We just started our 1978 airstream Airbnb in Austin, but have hard time finding insurance for it. How are you handling that?
@danhwang29623 жыл бұрын
@@Skaggs666 I would permanently install a 30 amp or 50 amp dedicated pedestal for electrical and you can just hook up a hose to your water from your house. I would also recommend possibly installing a outdoor shower, we have one and the renters love it.

@@steffihummon9465 my home insurance covers it when it’s on my property. I use Allstate for home and for my vehicles which also includes my airstream.

@@danhwang2962 Hi Dan, thank you for the reply. We also use Allstate but our agent said he can't do it. (We have our airstream in an LLC, that might be the reason).

40 bucks a night? That seems sooo cheep? Why even bother renting it? 280 for a week and then have to pay cleaning ? And wear ?
@airgear2 жыл бұрын
The price you can get per night depends on the local market. Here in Tucson, it was a competitive and reasonable price. In other areas you may be able to fetch more or less money per night.

I know you are in a less expensive area but for your ROI is how is it worth it? In my area alone to fill an empty 30 lb propane tank is $24. When I consider things and your video and it is very good but it would not make sense for us to rent our Airstream given how people do not take take of things. We have a4 bedroom 1868 home Air B and B in HIllsdale MI which the only claim to fame is Hillsdale College! We rent our restored 1972 Avion (like an Airstream) for $100 to $125 per night. Now that said, we do not have the rental nights in our area that you have. Even so worked out well for us

Do you have Ins. ont he airstream as an ABNB rental? and if so who do you use? Thanks

This is a really great video. Did you run into any issues with the city?
@airgear2 жыл бұрын
No, we looked into the local regulations and it wasn't a problem.

Wow that's a low price rental. I've been renting out my diesel pusher in Sac for $100/night average over the last couple of months.

In Sacramento I'm sure prices are much higher than Tucson! Congratulations on your success.

Do you think getting solar panels is worth the expense if planning to use the airstream for airbnb?
@airgear4 жыл бұрын
No, not if the Airstream is plugged into power. There's no advantage to solar in this circumstance (other than offering backup power in case of an outage). As a side note, solar panels on an RV are never economically justifiable. There's no reasonable payback period unless you live in the RV full time for years. Solar on an RV is a tool that allows you to camp longer in places without electricity and without a generator. Don't try to cost-justify solar on an RV - get it because you want the expanded camping capability that solar offers.

What did you do with waste/sewer?
@airgear3 жыл бұрын
This was a full hookup site, connected to the house's sewer
@lapowers572 жыл бұрын
@@airgear The question is what did you do with the waste and sewer. My take on this was did you leave the Black tank valve open all the time or did you leave instructions on how to dump the black tank. It is better to let the black tank fill and then dump but can you trust or expect a guest to do this?

No bad reviews at all! Everyone seemed to love the opportunity to stay in the Airstream.

Do these take into account the cost of the airstream?
@airgear2 жыл бұрын
No, in our case the Airstream was paid for and fully depreciated. If you have a mortgage on yours, then of course you'd want to take the monthly payment into account.
