I love this! I feed kibble and raw, it's what I can afford and I'd love to feed more raw but it's not practical right now. I've heard so many people say that it has to be one or the the other. He can and does handle both at once 😊

It is all ABSURDLY over priced. If you want to be more natural, and healthy. I think buying fresh meats, from a standard grocery store, and COOKING said meat, is best. I do NOT trust grocery store meat, raw. But the food prepared/sold as DOG food, for these non kibble, and raw diets, is obscenely expensive. With that being said, I am no expert. But unless you are rich, I think buying standard grocery store meat, and just cooking it, is the way to go. Brands like Tango, if you have a 50 lb dog, and Tango is the main meal every day. You will be spending like $500 a month! Again, I MAKE NO CLAIMS, to be an expert. Just my thoughts, as someone who wants real food for their dogs. But refuses to pay $500 a month per dog on Tango.

My 20 yr old rescue eats about half and half with his rescue brothers. We only buy rawmix, slow cooked, limited ingredient for dog food due to his allergies to preservatives , poultry, and pork. We have to watch everything. Honest Kitchen and Grandma Lucy’s are great for mixing in. We switch between brands of dog food often, all primarily with raw focus, but brands like Instinct have raw mix rabbit protein food. Open farm has an amazing fish rawmix with rockfish. Stella & chewys has an amazing lamb super blend option. We’ve tried and loved quite a few brands and flavors and my guys love a variety. Ofc the other half of their food is also fresh and raw. My dad gave us extra deer meat from hunting. Organ meats that they’d otherwise discard, my guys go crazy for. My 20 yr old is still doing great and recovered from his cataract removal.

loves, hearts and hugs from turkey:).. finally some people started to speak about my preference.. i prefer ; 50% always kibble 30% raw meat 10% organs 10% fruit n veggies.. of course i dont make this mix with a perfect scale everday.. i always use 50% kibble at start. one day i put veggies more, one day i put hearts more, one day i put just meat.. (depending on which one available at the moment) i put all these in bowl and add hot water.. wait for cool down.. and she is soooo happy while waiting and eating and she is dancing after every meal:)

I add beef bone broth to both of my dog's meals. I feed Instinct Raw Boost Beef to my GSD and Instinct raw beef bites to my Cavalier King Charles, always with bone broth. I just started mixing raw and kibble together for my Cavalier; so far, so good. I also have 4 cats on Instinct Raw Boost for cats. To say they all are thriving would be an understatement. I spend approximately $480 a month on pet food, much more than I spend on myself

I always love your videos. I work at a pet store and the most common thing people tell me when I suggest they add wet or raw food to their kibble is that it makes their dog's poop runny. Another common mistake I see people making is buying cooked, smoked, and bleached bones instead of raw or freeze-dried ones. And then the main myth that I can't believe people still believe is that raw food is not good for dogs and will make them sick.

Skylar, Awesome you're back! Excellent video and content too! It's always nice to further confirm what I'm doing with my Irish Goldendoodle Puppy's feeding is great! I have been feeding Orijen Puppy and will be switching over to Orijen Regional Red or Six Fish with Amazing Grains. Can you recommend one over the other? Thoughts on grain free vs amazing grains?Currently, I'm leaning towards Six Fish, but I'm still researching them both. My kibble and raw food mixture is the following: Orijen kibble, Spirulina powder, raw carrots, blueberries, spinach, and goats milk. We switch between cooked chicken and turkey or use raw turkey. Sometimes, we substitute raw or cooked eggs! Our boy seems to love everything we give him! Question about vitamins? The Pawplex vitamins seem to no longer be manufactured because they are always "Out of stock". Can you recommend any replacements you really like? Thank you! -Shane

I dont mix the Kibble I feed my Boy completely raw. But I still have the kibble in case for some odd reason he needs it. I just have the bags left over from before I switched him. But he was Only eating kibble for a week because I got him at 8 weeks. And his poop was incredibly soft. He had to be wormed a 3rd time. And I know that causes the runs but he was like that when I got him. It wasn't water or mush but softer then it should've been. Then I switched him to the raw and his poop went normal immediately. He also pooped out a lot of mucous once he started eating raw one time. And after that his poop was perfectly normal. I gave him chicken wings with bones beef heart and a raw egg his 1st all raw meal and he loved it. I gave him kibble and raw twice once I started switching him. With heart and kibble. The next meal the same thing. And the last was the chicken wing with the bones the heart and 1 egg without the shell. And he couldn't get enough of it. Tomorrow I'll give him beef tripe and chicken wings and heart with a egg in 1 of his 3 meals. Each meal is 4 OZ with him eating 12 oz for the whole day. They say make it 3 percent of his body weight. And my pup is 15 pounds so that's 12 oz for the day. You'll need a scale to be accurate. Hope this helps anybody thinking of going raw. I did it because of so many things I've heard. My friend has a dog with horrible allergies. The poor dog is on meds for his allergies because of hot spots on his skin that make his hair fall out. And certain foods make it worst. I've told the owner try a raw diet. I'm almost positive he will so better with the raw diet. If certain foods actually aggravate his allergies. I bet reap food makes them go away.

I get emails from AKC weekly. This week it had The 8 biggest Dog Food myths. I would love to get your opinion on them. One of the myths that I was interested in was that meat is more nutritious then meat meal they say that was a myth. But I would love to hear your take on all the myths they claimed.
@9hk38f2 жыл бұрын
They said meat meal, is BETTER, then straight meat? I am no certified nutritionist. But I can confirm, 200%, that is complete bull. I do notice, a lot of dog food, geared towards "athletic" dogs, will have meal, instead of meat. Because they can add more protein powder. Giving a higher overall protein content. But that does not mean meal, is better then straight meat.

Bro why do you even need to ask you know the answer. Does it make any sense that taking meat and processing the he'll out of it then adding fake vitamins would be netter than just the meat itself?

So glad I found this video. I recently adopted (rescued) an Australian Cattle Dog to my already 3 dog household. My 3 dogs have been eating Darwin’s Raw Dog Food for years, however adding a 4th dog to my Darwin’s bill was just not possible! According to Darwin’s my new ACD should be eating about 30 lbs of raw food per month. I can’t afford that, but I am able to buy him 15 lbs of Darwin’s per month, so I’ve been mixing Darwin’s into his Orijen kibble. His stool is MUCH better than when I first got him (they were feeding him Kibbles and Bits 😳!!!!!) but of course it’s not as good as my 3 dogs that eat completely raw food. I was really disheartened when researching mixing kibble and raw, but honestly the arguments against it just didn’t make sense to me. Surely adding meat to kibble MUST be better than just kibble!! Come on! Anyway, this video made me feel much better about my choice in feeding my dog the best I can afford. Thanks! PS new subbie!!!

You certainly can, however I recommend lightly cooking meats from the grocery store/butcher shop because the FDA allows these meats to contain up to 4% pathogens like E.coli, listeria, and salmonella whereas commercial let foods much have 0%

I would love a video, on raw fresh food vs cooked fresh food. Not kibble vs raw, but cooked fresh food, vs raw fresh food. I feed my dogs boiled chicken. I buy from standard grocery stores. I don't trust grocery store meat, being fed raw. about 8% of grocery store chicken, is contaminated. No issue at all, if cooked, and safe handled. My dogs are around kids a lot. I understand raw is fine for dogs. But people forget, your dogs mouth, has the salmonella and E.coli in it. Even if its not making them sick. Then they lick their coat, and lick you. And BOOM! Raw chicken ALL OVER! That is why I don't feed raw. And, to be honest. There is no, BACKED, PROVEN, SCIENTIFIC DATA, that implies raw meat, is better for dogs, then cooked. Obviously we have all heard, "well your cooking out the nutrients" but us humans typically eat cooked meats. And we obtain the nutrients from it. I am aware cooking, especially boiling, IS IN FACT, stripping some nutrients. However, I have yet to see, a fully backed and proven chart, showing the benefits of raw fresh meat, over cooked fresh meat.
