Haha, I love this. I'm in the same boat as you (no pun intended). I picked up a free windsurfing kit off of craigslist which includes an 80's/90's windsurf longboard, and I have a oar left by a neighbor who moved away. I'll be taking my windsurf board for a spin sometime soon. I also have the sails, mast, etc. so I'll try windsurfing as well, I just want to have at least one lesson.

I am looking at this 3 years later with an idea of making a SUP foil (+ light wind wingfoil board) from windsurf board adding twin rails for the foil mount. This is after seeing the new "downwinder " SUP foils - they look a lot like windsurf speed boards - not very wide 23/25 inches and 6 to 7 feet long. From the look of it the the main difference once the straps are off is the rounded deck + straps on the windsurf board - also missing the bevels on the rails but at 50 euros a board at worst you have a cheap SUP. The only thing is maybe the weight?

If you want to drop in the mast you will have to convert to a newer mast foot!

The mast hole might work great for a fishing pole.

I'm not exactly sure. It is a 1980 Obrien windsurf board. I've had a hard time trying to find it online. I am looking for the tendon connector for it... so I can try and actually windsurf this summer. If anyone knows where i can find the correct one... let me know. Its getting warmer!

Did you put a fin on it ? I just grabbed one also. And using it as a paddle board

I did put the fin on... and the center board (you can see me put it in the board at :35).... but I found that it is easier to paddle and turn without them when I did one of my next episodes about my first free diving adventure.

Glue some yoga mat or get some stick on neoprene sheets to put the topside
