I found these pens in Dollarama, (a huge Canadian chain of dollar store). Once I tried one, I went back to every location in my city and bought every rollerball and fountain pen that I could find. I paid $1.50 for each pen and two refills. That was a bargain. After I used them all, I bought cartridges from Amazon until they stopped making them. I was heartbroken. I never thought of refilling the cartridges. Unfortunately, I have thrown out all but two of the R-301 cartridges. I still have several unopened V301 fountain pens and cartridges. I will definitely hang on to any from now on. Thank you for posting this. I have about 20 of these pens in a drawer and I'm so happy that I will be able to use them again.

You can totally do this with fountain pen cartridges too if the con-40 doesn’t hold enough ink for you
@YR7A5 жыл бұрын
that and it should take standard international converters/cartridges.
@ervinsiax64195 жыл бұрын
This is misleading in that this is not a standard rollerball pen. The pen used , zebra r-301, uses fountain pen cartridges. What should have been focused on is how few rollerball pens take fountain pen cartridges.

I have a question. Can I use pilot hi-techpoint ink which is meant for rollerball, in pilot metropolitan fountain pen? Someone said, that it can clog or corrode or damage the pen in the long run as the ink is meant to be used in rollerball only and that fountain pen inks are completely different. But before hearing this, I used the hitechpoint ink in the metropolitan pen and the result was FANTASTIC. The experience is out of the world. Please let me know your expert opinion regarding whether I can use the hi-techpoint ink in the metropolitan pen safely or not.
@unsharpen Жыл бұрын
My take: it should be fine. There is a chance for clogs and too thick ink but corrosion should be limited, and it’s a replaceable pen if something went wrong.

@@unsharpen what do you mean by replacable? Which part?
@samuelhoffman5477 Жыл бұрын
@@bapon85He definitely meant that you could replace the nib. My knowledge on that specific pen is really limited, but I imagine it’s possible to pull out the nib and replace it if needed. In short, if your pen isn’t writing properly no matter what you do, you can replace the nib instead of getting a whole new pen.

Out of curiosity, after several years, how has the pen been holding up? Any issues? I bought one maybe 10 years ago and still have the original cartridge in it. It has never dried out and never fails me even though I use it very sporadically (once or twice a month to take a quick note). It still is writing smoothly. Was thinking about flushing and resplacing with FP ink. I also bought cartriges for the pen also 10 years ago but noticed they are V-301 FP cartridges... Fun fact. After 10 years, the the R-310 cartridge in the pen is almost full +80% yet the unused V-301 cartridges in the box have somehow dried out and are 60% full...

No complaints! I have the Zebra fountain pen and actually used it not too long ago. I randomly found a cartridge in the drawer, popped it in the pen and I was writing with no problems. (I had finished the previous cartridge and cleaned the pen a year or two prior.)

How can this be done with a Pilot Precise V5 RT? Or is it not possible?
@genelo68905 жыл бұрын
You could try to use a plier to pull the roller ball needle tip off away from the barrel what the ink is. Then use a syringe to refill the pen with any color fountain pen ink. I have done this with 1 of the cheap 99 cent store roller ball pen (Bazic brand 0.7 tip) that saw liquid ink in the pen barrel .
