I love that you left in the part where you got a pounding when you got caught inside. I never wish ill on others...but it makes me, as a very novice, happy to know it isn't JUST ME! Thank you.

Nice! You did the hard work on this review and answered some things I was curious about... like being over buoyant. go full kook hat cam with a strapped lid.... no more hat grab in wipeouts 🤗

Glad you found this video insightful. Thanks for the tip 😂. Cheers, Beau

Good idea Rick about the hat cam. Full kook is the only way. Thanks Reuben

Very cool video! Thank you. In the 2022 season, we also tried it in +5°C water and it turned out great!

Glad the drysuit worked for you! Definitely need it when it's so cold. Thanks, Beau

I started surfing in kayaks and waveskis and mostly SUP surf now. One thing I have seen when surfing in really cold water with friends in dry suits is that they are a bit fragile if you get thrown against a rocky reef or rocks that have mussels on them. Twice i've seen paddlers rip their dry suits on sharp rocks when swimming after a wipeout in very big surf and cold water. These were experienced paddlers and they were in real distress when their suits flushed with cold seawater, and all their unders layers got sodden with cold water.

This is a really good point, nice one for highlighting it. I guess surfing on sandy beaches on smaller days it will be much less risky. Thanks again for the comment, Reuben

Thanks, i am allergic to neoprene after many years of surfing and this could work for me!!!

WOW that sounds bad, I wonder what in the neoprene that make you have a reaction? Yes this could be the answer. Thanks Reuben

What's the better drysuit for wingfoiling ? Not to bulcky, full watertight and affordable.
@SUPboardermag2 жыл бұрын
Hey Neo, Good question. TBH the words fully watertight and affordable don't always go together, lol. The more money you spend the dryer they are or the more severe impacts they can take and stay dry. We have just had the new drysuit from palm turn up palmequipmenteurope.com/gb/touring-suits/584-7877-rogen-suit#/75-size-xs/231-colour-cobaltjet_grey and it seams to be much lighter in weight compared to this one in the video. We will be reviewing that one soon. Otherwise Prolimit and SUPskins also have some good light suits. But they are cost a bit unfortunately. The SUP brand Aztron will also have drysuit coming out soon that will be a cheaper price point. We will try and get some of these too to review. Hope that helps in some way? Thanks Reuben

Normal kayak drysuits ate not the best choice for this. Better to use a 4 way strech super light one like we offer and use ourself. It s proofen and worn by some of the best foilers around. Also a thin x lite suit with 2 layers (only) can be worn over a thin wetsuit to keep the windchill down. As soon as we have production space available we will send you finally some testsuits. By the way. Water rushing into the suit will not drown you. Water doesn't change its weight inside the ripped suit plus releasing air throughout the cuffs will create a vacuum and air trapped inside will help keeping you afloat. We do foil ,paddle and surf every day and being an expert of tailored customized performance wear I know what I am talking about. Great channel you guys got and good testing as always. Keep up the good work.

Thanks for the comments Wolfgang we are looking forward to seeing your suits. Also thanks for highlighting about what happens when you get water in a suit. This is what we were debating would happen but nice to hear it from a tester who has tried it. Nice one Reuben / SUPboarder

I would only wear a membrane drysuit if I was willing to also wear a buoyancy aid - you have very little positive buoyancy even before any water gets in and that could happen no matter how big the waves are. It would be quite easy to rip a seal in any conditions - I have managed to do that just putting my drysuit on.

Hey Mark. Thanks for your feedback we hear many mixed messages about drysuits, when/if they get damaged and what they will do in the water. Thanks for letting us know your thoughts. Reuben

Lol great video. Looks like hard work. Did you have any buoyancy? I was in the water this week in Cardiff and I did not find it too cold (practicing kick turns wearing a winter wetsuit)

Hey Ashley. No BA at all. Sorry for delay on this response.

Nice vid. I don't actually see the reason with drysuit, unless for really soft flatwater cruizing. Any kind of more intense paddling I get soaking wet with sweat. Litres of water stuck inside and as wet as in a wetsuit. Much more of a hustle compared to wetsuit with hood and separaret shoes/gloves. Been sup surfing in -11 air and ice slush for hours. My 6-5-4 is much warmer than my drysuit unless bulky clothes. BTW, nice to see some struggling. Did a video myself the other day with a bit of struggling and waves on the head. I like to see not all the perfect waves. :D

Geology lesson: I find gold in natural form all over the world, mines forming in box canyons etc. and you surfing at the bottom of cliffs is how bays form from water etc. just like bluff cliffs are on bends of rivers and creeks with rock. Point being: you show up to places that have same patterns in geology like I do

@@SUPboardermag always remember the zippers on a dry suit are exhausting after a long workout. They make this lubricant in a glue stick to lubricate the zipper. Kind of need help after a workout. “Get me out of this thing.” - thus you almost fell over and felt cool air enter.
