Watching this video reminded me of a theory that my friend had when watching the movie: The family represents the Holy Trinity with the dad's being the Father and Son, with the daughter being the holy Spirit. The intruders represent the four horsemen of the apocalypse. By the family sacrificing one of their own, it symbolically represents Christ dying to save humanity. Just a neat bit of literary analysis for you.

My theory is that each person that had a vision of the apocalypse actually controlled it with their death. So the person who had the vision of the tsunami died causing a tsunami and if that is the case you can make it seem like you agree to the decision and when they are distracted tied them up or something so the don't commit suicide and cause the apocalypse.

I actually agree with Elias, but after the second one dies, I would ask them to not kill eachother, but to just go find some random child off the streets to instead. Then I would consider it. If another plague happened... then I would tell them to go live in the cabin, have us kidnap them, and they make a choice instead of us. Reverse Phycology! If they still refuse, I would say, "Meh, this world was getting boring anyways." Now, If a plague didn't happen I would tell them, "Hey look! So, to really prevent the apocolypse, we just need to keep you guys alive!" If they still think not, they screw them. I'll tell them I'm thinking about who should go for an extremely long amount of time. No plague, that's proof. If there is, go to the Refused Reverse Phycology path. If they still refuse, then they are cultists and have them all kill themselves instead. Elias, man, your doing great! Keep up that sadism, as I does wonders for Danial's content.

Leonard and the dad are fighting over a gun and it accidentally goes off killing the kid, in grief over losing their child and it not even contributing to stop anything, they decide to screw the world and remain together even if the apocalypse is real.
