Little mounds are salamander mounds The pocket gopher is also called “sandy mounder” or salamanders in Florida although not a true salamander. The pocket gopher is a plant eater and forages for roots, forbs, shrubs and grasses in its underground burrows. The pocket gopher is solitary and territorial and only comes together briefly for breeding.

Looks cool! Is there accommodations for primitive camping? Alternatively, will hunters' trucks be overnight parked off the trail on occasion? Cheers

Those are pocket gopher mounds. The reason there is no visible tunnel is because they don’t use the mound as an egress point. They’re simply pushing excavated dirt out of their tunnel system so the bottom of the mound is plugged. Their tunnel system could be 5” below the surface or 5’. Thanks for another great video.

When is hunting season?
@FloridaJeepRides2 жыл бұрын
Every wildlife management area has different seasons, depending on where they are in the state. If you put the name of the place and look online, you should find a plan your visit section. That’s where is normally to hunt schedule is.

It was a great part of the trails there and perhaps someday they will make a area that is just for off road vehicles. There are still a lot of good areas to test your wheelin skills

Its def pocket gophers, you don't see them when you take the mound off because they're tunneling underground about a foot below that. Checkout the YT video titled "Trapping Southeastern Pocket Gophers" by UF IFAS Panhandle Ag Extension or another possibly is a Florida Deepdigger Scarab Beetle.

I did watch that while working on this video. Looks like they back fill the holes and thats why I only find a fresh looking pocket of sand in the center.

You can go either way. Some of the day we headed south others we were going north. Three days so far.

Well the biggest thing is to keep your Ford speed going. And I already been for high before you get to the mud hole and try to keep those Wheels straight.

If you are with people and get stopped, we tell them don't dig yourself in. A quick kinetic pull and out they go.

It's a mole hill. If you take away the dirt carefully, you will be able to find the hole.
