Can you tell the difference? GS330 install in a GS Mini Spruce | comparison ES2 GS Mini-e Koa Plus

In this video I compare the JJB electronics GS330 pickup with the Taylor Expression System 2 in a Koa Plus. I also show you how to install the GS330 in a 2012 GS Mini Spruce with what I think is either mahogany back and sides or Sapele.
Overall, you can't beat the quality of the ES2. Taylor's excellent design reduces quackiness and provide a good representation of the tonal quality of the guitar. However, for $50, the JJB is a great little system for a great little guitar!

Nice video. Thanks for the perspective. Its a decent sound. But would you put it into your koa plus? Also The different string gauges make it tricky to evaluate and I guess they are different woods too. I've got the koa plus and the dury is out on how it sounds. There's a resonance in the upper mids that annoys me.

Hey mate! I wouldn’t swap out the ES2 for the JJB mainly because it would require a costly modification. I like both for different applications. I find the JJB is warmer, but as you say it’s hard to determine which is “better”. It’s more that the GS330 holds up, I think. Hear you on the upper mid resonance on the Koa. I was recording with it the other day and had to set the mics right back to tame it. I’m hoping that swapping out the 13s for 11s will fix that but those damn coated d’addarios last forever…

Yeah I put on a 12 to 56 light/medium polyweb elixir for the feel on the koa plus and its helped a bit. I use nails so it can be a bit brittle.
