I was born and raised in Chicago, but after working 12 years in the financial Industry regulating the futures and options markets at the CME/CBOT I decided to pursue my passion fishing professional tournaments and left my full time corporate job. At that point, I moved to Junction City, WI with my wife Sara and two boys Hank and Duke. I've been fishing professionally since 2011 and full-time since 2015. I've qualified for seven MLF Championships and won over a half million in tournament winnings at the professional level.

You can count me among those that didn’t know this. I bank fish and struggle with getting hung up on grass, lay downs, rocks, etc. I’ll pay attention to my jigs. Thanks Matt.

Another issue I'm interesting in hearing your opinion is the orientation of the line tie, i.e., vertical or horizontal. A lot of bass jigs have the line tie twisted 90 degrees. I've always heard the vertical line ties are better for fishing through grass and other vertical cover, while the horizontal ones may be better in other situations. What are your thoughts?

For me, there are two types of jigs, those that I’ve snagged and broken off and those that I will…

yup. 99° here. I use alot of different jigheads for all those techniques. some go thru grass better, some get hung up less in rocky cover... lots of variables for sure.

Wjats your thoughts on the strike king structure jig with the cobra style head and a zero degree line tie. Dontou think that truly helps with hooking up when you get a bite because the bite gap is so big.
@MattStefanFishing
@MattStefanFishing 13 күн бұрын
It’s a good jig but I honestly thing gap is overrated

I've steered away from the 90 degree swimbait jigs in the water column over the past few years. I've had better success with 60 degree jigs and making bottom contact but I only fish smallmouth.

@@MattStefanFishing I think it triggers that reaction strike more often that you talk about a lot with smallmouth. The hit always comes when the jig hits a rock.

90 degree is gonna be the most stable and gives the least amount of body roll.

Pathetic, I’m sure your rifle needs cleaned. Might want to check the star chamber. This is what’s wrong with our military now days. If they don’t get their phone they cry. Can’t wait until they hit a combat zone, can’t pull out your phone and call mom or your girlfriend back home fuckin Jody.

Some for mopping, some for hovers, some for swim, some for depth drifting, etc. Swimbaits are not 90 degrees. This is what separates elites from Taticool Bassin.
