The most crucial step here that I'm really glad you covered was that a speedlight needs to be set into TTL mode to be controlled by the X1R-N; even if the Xpro or transmitter is set to manual, the speedlight still needs to be set to TTL. The Godox manual doesn't cover this anywhere I could find, so bravo for including it!

The X1R receiver can also be used to trigger your camera remotely.
@ipadista
@ipadista 5 жыл бұрын
As long as there isnt too much ambient light, like indoors or studio, and no other flashes are used that risk triggering things. Quite often using visual slave mode is the least hassle, and you're not losing more than the ability to remotely adjust the lights. If I need an all radio setup with Godox as the main kit, I would put an X1 trigger on the camera and the other brands trigger on top of it, and then normally I would control my Godox lights via an X-Pro trigger that I carry. In a squeeze, you can do the settings on the X1, but if I can avoid it I would.

You can put your Yongnuo transmitter on top of your r2t and get ttl and high speed sync functionality (at least with Canon) but the gotcha is that the Yongnuo lights all have to share group A and shoot at the same power level.

Godox and Yongnuo Flash System combined: After some testing I found a perfectly working solution to trigger my Godox flashes (by the Godox XPro-S flash controller) in combination with my Yongnuo flashes (indirectly triggered by the Yongnuo 560TX flash controller connected to my Godox X1R-S receiver). Remark: Of course the Yongnuo flashes will still be manual only but I can easily change the settings (like flash power and zoom) wireless by the Yongnuo 560TX controller and use them as additional flashes in a studio setup.

I use a similar setup. 560TX on an X1 receiver. Works well and as they say, if it isn't broke don't fix it. Ideally I want to replace the Yongnuo's with a V1 and a second AD200. Ideal for outdoor work.

Hey thank you so much for this info! I was sold a Photix Mitros+ & a Godox XPro TTL Flash Trigger in a bundle from a store called Mike's Camera in Dublin California. @@robhallphoto Hey, so is there a typo in your video @1:34? 🤔 You say "Godox X1R Receiver", however in text it says "Godox X2T Flashpoint R2T". Today I purchased the Godox X2T because of seeing that in this video. Also the merchant I purchased it from had informed me that this product works as both a transmitter & a receiver. However it is still not functioning like how I would want it. I have a Phottix Mitros+ & a Godox XPro Flash Trigger for my Canon camera; I want to fire the Phottix using my Godox XPro Flash Trigger. What do I do?? I watched your video a bunch but I just want to make sure I am understanding it correctly before I purchase the "Godox X1R Receiver" you recommended in this video. Please help clarify, thanks.
@robhallphoto
@robhallphoto 2 жыл бұрын
@@stanleyipkuss Sorry, yes that is a typo. Godox X1R is the receiver. But, I would return/sell the Phottix Mitros since they were misinformed about what they sold you and put the money towards a Godox flash. Or, sell/return the Godox Xpro and get the transmitter for a Mitros. It makes no sense to buy a Godox receiver to bridge these two incompatible units, when you could get a Phottix trigger, or Godox Flash, and not have to deal with a receiver at all.

I'm not 100% certain, but I think the X1R is only available for Canon, Nikon and Sony - no Fuji or Olympus versions (on the Godox Website, Canon, Nikon and Sony are listed as X1-C/-N/-S wireless flash triggers, while Fuji and Olympus are specifically listed as X1T-O and X1T-F wireless flash triggers) All X1R should work at least in manual mode with Fuji or Olympus-flavored X-series triggers though, so one should be at least able to use them as single pin triggers for Fuji or Olympus speedlights.

If I read the doc correctly, the V860IIS can control Sony flashes directly via their intelligent optical wireless system (WL). It can also be controlled by them. I don't think there's HSS, but there is TTL. Here's the relevant paragraph: This product is compatible with Sony Wireless Lighting System (WL). It can function as either an optical wireless master or slave flash. As a master unit, it can control Sony camera flashes e.g. HVL-F60M, HVL-F43M and HVL-F32M via wireless. As a slave unit, it can be controlled by wireless signals of Sony camera flashes e.g. HVL-F60M, HVL-F43M and HVL-F32M.

I have a couple of X1R's for Nikon. They work great, and I'm still using my beloved SB800's and SB910's. Pretty cost-effective, too. The X1R's also work TTL with my Fuji and Pentax cameras. The 800 and 910 also work in HS mode with Fuji (I couldn't check w/my Pentax.)

@@brucekraft744 Thanks for the reply. This all makes sense to me, that's also what my setting are - manual on the trigger and TTL on the flash. But I still can't adjust the power. Even though that doesn't quite make sense to me. Thanks again.

@@daynepillow That IS baffling. I find it hard to believe the X2T is the problem. The Nikon flashes have 2 TTL settings: regular TTL and TTL/BL (some sort of balanced lighting function that I've only ever used for outdoors fill-flash during daytime with my Nikon). I have never tried the TTL/BL setting as it just doesn't seem appropriate for this application. The only other suggestion I can offer is to make sure your flashes are fully inserted into the hot shoe of each X1R. I have 3 SB800's and 2 SB910's each on it's own X1R. Never had a problem with any of those lights. Best of luck! PS: I just tried a Flashpoint R2T-F (Adorama's equivalent to your trigger) with an SB800. Worked fine for exposures at 3 different levels. -BK

I am using two Godox V1n flash units. They are both sitting on light stands about three feet apart. Neither one is attached to the camera in any way, One V1 unit is set to MASTER, the other is set to SLAVE. When I test the setup by pushing the flash (Green) button, the Master and the Slave both fire. In use, the Master is fired by a connection into the 2.5mm jack with the other end of the cable set into a MIOPS+ trigger - the trigger fires the MASTER but the SLAVE does not fire.

I will be purchasing two tt685 units plus a x-pro trigger. Currently have an Altura ap-n1001 speed light which I expect to use with the Godox setup by putting the altura speedlight into S1 mode - thus having another flash set it off. Obviously will have to set it up completely manually as the x-pro trigger will not know that it exists. This should work as I tested using an on-camera flash to set it off. This should give me a three light setup for portrait use, plus save me some money and let me still use my existing speedlight. Any issues with this please let me know.

Recently I bought a Godox X2TC. Can I attach my Godox X2TC in my Canon 580exii. And control this flash using my XPro Transmitter attached in my Sony Camera? I can't seem to connect my Xpro S to control my X2TC. thank you in advance...

I currently have a Sony HV60 Flash and I want to buy a GODOX AD200 strobe and use them together with a Sony A7ii. My question is should I buy the GODOX flash trigger or the Sony Trigger??
@robhallphoto
@robhallphoto 4 жыл бұрын
You should buy a Godox trigger, and a godox receiver (X1R-S) to put on the Sony flash. But my first suggestion would be to sell the HV60 and replace it with a godox flash that is compatible with the AD200's so you're not throwing money away on a receiver to keep an overpriced flash that is less capable than the Godox speedlights.

Hi Robert. Thanks for great content. I have Nikon Z6 Mirrorless and Godox X2T. When I have my Nikon sb900 on X1R, the flash output always is on minimum like 1/256 no matter which power setting I adjust on the X2T. However, the flash output is normal after I switch X2T to DSLR Nikon D750 hotshoe. Is the Mirrorless and DSLR have different flash sync factors for X2T? Does anyone have this issue when using non-Godox fash on X1R with Mirrorless camera?

didnt ask the obvious question.. sony camera, godox x-trigger (whatever type), godox nikon reciever, canon flash... will it work? and i dont mean if ttl or high speed sync, i wonder, will the flash fire? the thing that confuses me about godox trigger (or any 3rd part triggers) is that it for instance says its sony model.. does it mean that both the hot shoe below AND above need to be connected to sony only (yeah i know sony is a bad example cause of multishoe, but who cares) or does it mean that it will work ON a sony camera but can send to any kind of godox trigger, no matter the -s -n -c -f type?
@robhallphoto
@robhallphoto 2 жыл бұрын
Any trigger on any camera will fire off the center pin. You’ll still have manual control because that’s based on the flash. If your camera and trigger do not match brands, you will not have sleep, wake, HSS, or ttl functions. This is regardless of the brand receiving strobes. If your trigger and camera match, it doesn't matter what you use off camera, even if they don't match the camera system they will convert ttl and has signals.

For high-speed, I recommend setting all flashes to the same group. I just learned the hard way that there is a brief time delay between groups that results in double exposure effects when trying to freeze fast-moving objects.

I have a problem with godox Xpro and also X1 that when connected with SB910 or SB700 in 1/1 it make a flash compensation of -2.3 ve, on 1/2 less compensation, an 1/4 also. Only in 1/8 fires at that power without compensation. The compensation appears in the flash screen. Did that happen to you as well?

The FP R2 SPT looks really useful: I currently use Cactus V5 which are not made anymore and are pretty flimsy to control my various sppedlights makes and a Rovelight 600. I'm considering the AD 200 Pro but if I don't have anything Godox can they be used with my current set up for real estate? Also can you mix and max Godox equipment and Flashpoint gear. Just had a marathon viewing of your videos; great stuff. Thanks.
@robhallphoto
@robhallphoto 4 жыл бұрын
Flashpoint (R2) and Godox (x series) mix interchangeably. They are identical products with different stickers. There are a few R2 products that have no Godox/global version (like the SPT), but they still work with Godox products. An AD200 can be used with any receiver via it's sync port. You just won't have the remote control or advanced functionality that you do with a Godox trigger.

My understanding is that the only differences between the triggers for the different camera manufacturers is the translation of the signals from the hotshoe, so the signal that the transmitter actually sends out is identical, so they should absolutely work together successfully.

To trigger the SB28 with the X1T-O, the SB28 will need to be connected to a Godox X1R-N. You will have manual only and able to change the power levels of the speedlight. At lease on the SB800 it works, I don't see why the SB28 would be different.
