Can You Use The Same K Cup Twice? [Full Experiment]

I was skeptical when I first heard someone trying to use a single k cup pod to brew to cups of coffee. I wanted to put it to the test though. I gave it every opportunity to succeed. I used a dark roast, the smallest setting on the Keurig, and I shook the ground loose between brews.
The result was… Well, it tasted like a bold cup of tea. I wouldn’t recommend doing it as a daily habit but if you’re in a pinch, it can work to get your fix.

Today I'm trying to make iced coffee. I made a "medium" sized cup of coffee and poured it into a larger cup of ice and it wasn't enough. So I made a "small" size of more coffee and it taste just fine. I don't know why we're told not to use a KCUP twice. I think the manufacturer just wants us to spend more money.

i have tried all different ways to penny pinch. let the kcup dry a day and shake it.. blah I've tried taking a few used k cups dry them and mix around, use for full size coffee pot.. blah and even tried drying the grinds in the oven. no matter what that second cup/pot is really weak. my wife finally got sick of me trying to reuse, so yes she got me that stainless steel pod and bag of coffee, which gets you 2-3x more coffee and cheaper

Fortunately for me the brand of coffee I use was 4 times less expensive using the refillable stainless pods as opposed to the same brand of ready to use pods but even twice as much is a huge savings

I usually use the dark deathwish coffee and do one cup at 12oz then another go on the same cup at 8oz and dump both in my thermos. Tastes like coffee and wakes me up so it's working out fine.

What I usually do on the second cup is put it on the "SHOT" option and set it on "STRONG".

I always get two brews out of a pod. I have a large 20oz travel mug and brew a 10 oz and an 8 oz to fill it...leaving room for creamer. I have never had an issue with the taste...but i have had the occasional inferior pod burst on the second brew.

Here's an idea. If you drink several cups a day save the k-cups then in evening run them through 1 more time putting weak coffee in a jar and then refrig over night. Easy cold brew for the next day.

I do this all of the time and it's fine. I guess I'm not so fussy. I have a single serve and 12 oz is the largest amount of water, I find the coffee too strong. So I run the coffee again and add about 4 oz of it to my 16 oz cup. It's very good.

Every day. I bought some mushroom coffee a couple of months ago and I added it to my coffee at first. I had been so used to drinking a pot of coffee but I didn't really want it so much after that but I did want a little extra I tried with the second run through and made that my mushroom blend. Perfect. Yeah, I wouldn't serve this to anybody unless they requested it, but for me it does just what I like for now

Bought the K-cafe and some of the grounds are still dry after brewing so I use them more than once. I use refillable k-cup to reduce waste. Not sure why the water in running through so quickly. My second brew taste the same as the first and I only use the cappuccino or 6oz brew button.

I drink dark roast coffee and will use the same coffee pod twice a lot for one big cup of coffee. I do however add stevia to my coffee as of February of this year. If I just want a good strong cup of coffee I’ll just drink it black and use the pod once. New Subscriber here. I just replaced my “at least 10 yr old🤔” Keurig K-Classic with the Keurig Supreme today.

I do that every day for my husband's coffee.He likes the large coffee mugs. I've never heard of shaking the cups around , like he did in the video. Used K-cups are very hot! Also, we use the re-usable cups to make our coffee.Like he said, it's a lot cheaper that way....

My reason is to just get a couple ounces more on my second go round so I can fill up my 15 oz coffee cup I already get a good flavor using the 10 oz. setting on the first go round but just need a few ounces more of unwatered down coffee to fill the rest of the cup up without having to use a second pod.

Keurig will make a decent cup of coffee if you keep it a 4 or 6 oz per pod. Decent. Not a good or even close to great cup of joe, but decent. Using the 4 ounce setting with two pods and making a 12 ounce latte or 16 oz iced coffee works good. My biggest use for the Keurig is setting the water temp at 180F and making instant coffee or using the Aeropress.

But! If you combine those two cups, it's just right. I use reusable pods myself so you can even add a little more grounds than you would for a normal batch. It saves me time and money!

You can always run the first cup of coffee you brewed and run it back through the coffee maker into the K-Cup you just used

I often do this when home so I get to hit cups in the winter. Even though brewing them both together tastes better, the big cup gets cold by the time I finish making and eating breakfast. Much rather have hot thinner coffee then any kind of cold coffee.

My husband likes his coffee strong, so I make his with the first brew, and I like mine lighter and weaker anyway, so I make mine second brew all the time, every day! I usually use medium roast flavored coffee by Starbucks, and then I make my own coffee creamer using coconut milk, caramel or vanilla extract and Stevia, so I don’t have a lot of sugar in my creamer I brew the 2nd cup, using the full cup mode of 12 ounces, and then I stick it in the microwave for about a minute to make it hotter because I like it nice and hot because when I put the creamer in it cools the coffee off. Then I use my organic homemade creamer and put it in the coffee, Stir it and it taste fabulous, I love it!!! Now, if you’re only doing black coffee, I can see where the second brew might taste bad or not very good but I don’t like black coffee, I always use my homemade flavored creamer to make the coffee tastier. I don’t take the used pod out when I make my second brew. I’ll leave it in there, so I don’t have to try to line anything up, and it comes out great! Also, if you’re doing a second brew, you can always use the strong button. If you have that on your coffee machine, and the strong button will make the second brew stronger and bolder of a flavor even though it’s a second brew. Not only do I like my second brew coffee, but you save money, and it is better for the environment! 😅

I thought doing a double run would be using the the cup you just made putting it in the water reservoir and letting it pass through the coffee again for a stronger cup of coffee. Can it really hurt the machine running made coffee through the water heater through the coffee k cup twice if you run fresh water to rinse it out? I'm going to try because these k cups aren't giving me 150 my of caffeine and I want 300mg for 15oz for my protein coffee I'm trying to make because I can't find the bang keto coffee at the store no more 😭 I'm going to use optimum nutrition whey protein vanilla ice cream to make my keto coffee no sugar and add a lot of coconut oil for more fat. Whatcha think

I actually question this cause no matter the setting k-cups are all weak. However i will run two times @ 4oz, for the same cup. However, id be ok with drink coffee bean straight from the cup. 😅

Kuerig says in their instructions the 6 cup is stronger than 12. So this result makes sense.

If you open the k cups and dump them in your drip and take away the pot so the grounds steep for a min or so plus a pinch of salt for the extra bitterness yes you can reuse kcups if your making coffee for your inlaws or your dog

Hmm, the Keurig i have has a "strong" setting, im wondering if using the strong setting for the second cup would give you the same consistency as the first cup.

The strong button does make the second brew coffee stronger, but it is still a little weaker than the first brew, but I like my coffee lighter and weaker so it works great for me! It may not be good for everyone though, my husband will not drink a second brew because he likes his real strong!
