In that K7 hand, when someone raise when they are in "ICM prison", it is polarised knowing that hero is very aggressive. When hero re-jam villain can simply fold their air and call with the nuts. QQ would just call in this spot.

Just compare those HS MTT regs lines to top CG reg lines, where those second are pretty close to solver output but the first one's are far away... i guess it's is at least 1-2 lvl's gap between mtt vs cash players.
@jb-rx2ig
@jb-rx2ig 10 ай бұрын
in favor of mtts you mean right.. different stacksize and with icm it's harder to play optimally
@2CardConfidence
@2CardConfidence 10 ай бұрын
Just like the comment before says it's muchhh harder to get different stack sizes (including everyone at the table!) and ICM impacts right. Which at the same time leaves more room for exploits
@kristoffernilsson6043
@kristoffernilsson6043 10 ай бұрын
@@jb-rx2ig Not even close, HS cashgames are way more advanced than tournaments can ever be because of 2 simple facts: 1 - You play atleast 100bb deep which makes every decision compound per street if you are wrong and you also keep losing cash and not tournament chips. 2 - Since stacks are allways shorter in tournaments , many situations plays themselfs when you have hands like AQo etc, because you cant fold or you will be to shortstacked, hence more of a lottery and never able to be as sophisticated as a regular cash game.

Do you like GTO wizard or paired better for learning ICM situations?
@2CardConfidence
@2CardConfidence 10 ай бұрын
It depends on how you like to study - I like pairrd better for learning ICM, because for many spots they have comparisons between chip ev and ICM ranges. Also, you get explanations for many spots, which I find even more important in such a complex environment like tournament poker, where the number of situations is almost endless. GTOW is great for quickly finding a similar solution to a spot you want to have solved. But you "only" get the GTO solution and no context.

The breakdown by Ben is fascinating, but l fail to see how checking the flop with K7 covering so much of the board 4 handed against an aggressive player like Romeo is unusual. This is a very common line I see taken live as an exploit against this type of player, as they so often see flop checks as weakness and a chance to play against a perceived capped range. The jam by Romeo is completely unnecessary, only getting called when you're either crushed or stone dead. 3 betting with those stack sizes seems much better, as even getting called indicates strength and can save you on missed rivers. I know we're generally trying to build pots when we have good hands, but against players like this they will often end up doing it for you...
@2CardConfidence
@2CardConfidence 10 ай бұрын
Yeah that does seem tempting, but you need to remember that 1. Those aggressive players will also check raise and barrel aggressively, since they have a large advantage in 7x hands 2. They don't always have air - a large portion of their range simply consists pairs, A high, K high or even 7x, and every time that is the case you on average lose value by checking 3. Even if they do have air, they don't just always blast it off - even here, Romeo had one of the highest equity draws, so it's not like they just hand over their stack every time you trap them. Fwiw, the solver would also slowplay some 7x... but only lower ones and always bet K7. But still, if you have the reads that your opponent will go out of line so much against a seemingly capped range that it exceed the value of betting, then you can of course go for it!
@randylahey8207
@randylahey8207 10 ай бұрын
@@2CardConfidence appreciate the response, I think my constant live playing sways my opinion too much towards reads instead of fundamentals like you listed. And a good reminder to bet K7 to get value from weaker 7's and checking lower ones in case I'm crushed and not bloating the pot too much. The inclusion of Ben was awesome, he's a gem. Cheers!!
