00:51 🚗 Primered surfaces can cause adhesion issues: Primed bumpers can develop primer dust in deep recessed areas, making the surface less adhesive. 03:01 🧼 Use a 50/50 overlap for better adhesion: Overlapping the wrap material by 50/50 helps improve adhesion, making it stick better, especially in areas where primer dust is present. 04:39 🧽 Surface preparation is crucial: Washing, using wax and grease remover, and clay barring the bumper surface can raise surface energy and improve wrap adhesion. 05:20 🛠 Warranty concerns: Wrapping over non-OEM paint or primered surfaces may void warranties, so it's essential to use proper techniques to ensure customer satisfaction. 00:02 📺 Educational content: The video provides useful tips and tricks for those wrapping bumpers, emphasizing the importance of surface preparation for a successful wrap job.

Hello, I’m in the Primer Dust situation and appreciate your advice. Your post is older and I hope you have found better solutions to share? My car in epoxy primer and then urethane primer. I’ve wet sanded to 800 and cleaned with Dawn soap and 50/50 mix of isopropyl alcohol and water. Unfortunately still dust when I pull up vinyl like you did. Sticks good but worried when Wrap Installer has to reposition and then lose adhesion. Appreciate any new advice, thanks for your time.

When painting premiered parts we would use a red/grey scuff pad to give it some texture so the paint would bite . I would imagine if you used a grey fine pad and cleaned it properly it would get rid of that grey dust that comes off
@maclobster92984 жыл бұрын
Easy not to get primer dust if you properly sand and clay the primed piece before doing this.

@lf3566 Жыл бұрын
Wet sanding all primer parts will get rid of uneven surface and dust that primer leaves behind then clean with soap and water.

sounds like you just justv rattle cansome rustoleum and 2x clear on your primer panels just to have a good mating surfaces, should be cheap enough and can look like shit because hey, you're wrapping it
@landenoneil20022 жыл бұрын
I actually tried that and took it to get it wrapped, but I think you need to wait like 30 days for the paint to cure b4 wrapping cuz the clear coat started to lift as soon as he put alcohol on it.
@Patrick94GSR2 жыл бұрын
@@landenoneil2002 did you use an actual 2K clear coat product, with the separate activator that you puncture with the red button on the bottom of the can?

Just finish sanding the bumper with atleast 3000 grit DA with an interface pad, wipe down with adhesive remover, and wax and grease remover

Thats a really good idea, the 3k will almost act like more of a polish than a cut.

Great example of vinyl to primed paint! Off topic, better to wrap a bumber ON or OFF a vehicle? I'm considering taking mine off for convenience, but worried about it flexing and moving while applying the wrap.

I'm no pro by any means but after having wrapped my bike a few times, hard pieces like the gas tank are way easier while mounted on the bike. This comment is pretty old but maybe it will help someone else idk lol

@jksleepers34404 жыл бұрын
You should have no issues wrapping over bare polyurethane. Just make sure you degrease it by washing it with some dawn dish soap and give any rough areas a wet sand with some 2000 grit to smooth out the surface.
