#CanadiansinCostaRica #Canada #livingincostarica '🇨🇦 Canada Moves to Costa Rica 🇨🇷 They've Never Been Here Before WHAT😱' Dave and Mavis are from Canada. They moved to Costa Rica 2 weeks ago. They have never been to Costa Rica before and they just made a major move. What were they thinking? Why did they move to Costa Rica? Were they upset with the Canadian Government? Cost of living? Health reasons? Wanted to live a more simple life? Play more guitar? Write poetry? Did Costa Rica just seem like a nice country to retire in? What the heck were they thinking moving to a country they've never set foot in before?
Mavis can be found here on Tiktok- bigeyedowl13

Making the move to Costa Rica, live in Costa Rica can be quite the adventure, possibly stressful but definitely an adventure. Nothing can be more annoying, frustrating than learning things the hard way because you really don't understand how it is in Costa Rica, especially in the gringo community. The trick is to try and not make too big of mistakes the first year or two you are living in Costa Rica. For example, gringo pricing, which is a real thing, happens to just about everyone who makes the move, even when they've done the research, go figure. But eventually we all learn. 2 things I recommend you don't do the first two years of living in Costa Rica is buy property and jump into getting your residency, especially when you don't even know you will really like living abroad, overseas, international living in Costa Rica. So in general those are two good rules to follow. Yes, obviously there are exceptions but that doesn't mean you are one of them. Another general rule is to not jump into a small business that you really had no intention of getting into in the first place. But friends here have a way of separating gringos, expat community, from their money. Pick your friends wisely in Costa Rica. Wait to start that business. Observe your surroundings and the people in them before making fast friends with anyone in Costa Rica.

I sold everything and moved to Costa Rica without ever visiting. I find nothing unusual about it. I have been here over 10 years now and never plan to return to the states. Health reasons brought me here to avoid the cold.

I've been living in Costa Rica for the past eight years and I do agree that I love living amongst the warmth of brown people so much that I married a brown woman from Costa Rica twenty years ago and I've never been happier and I thank God multiple times every day that I made this move Pura Vida

Me also did it 9 months ago with 5 suitcases and a cat. Sold everything in Canada and now have a house here and living the Pura Vida lifestyle. Would never dream of going back to anywhere in North America as it is imploding! :( North America just leave your baggage back home and know things move much slower here. Fit in with the locals and their culture and have fun! Lets hope not too many come or there will not be as much rainforest or animals to enjoy :)

They'll be okay as long as they keep an open mind and adopt the Pura Vida lifestyle. Mike, you' and your videos will be great info for some insight as to what they'll be experiencing and what challenges they may encounter. Always remember this isn't Canada/USA ... Many expats constantly complain, just about everything, and compare CR to their home country which isn't fair because CR has its own positive and negatives, just like where they came from.

Welcome, "don't cha know, eh!" The wife and I moved here (Mal Pais) almost 7 years ago from San Clemente, Ca....best decision we ever made. In fact, our youngest son just moved here a few months ago with his whole recording studio and he only lives about 2 minutes away. Michael, you sure are sporting some big guns! Pura Vida all, peace!

Oh Canada! We are Canadians as well and we are planning on purchasing a place in Costa Rica this October/November. I do have a 12 year old and My wife and I need to make sure my son enjoys the lifestyle change. We will be staying for a couple of months then returning to Canada. Tie up some lose ends with businesses and hopefully next year come back to CR for good. My family and I were in CR Guanacaste area in April and we Love it. Thanks Mike to your channel and work for guiding us with information we can use once we are down there. We are looking to explore Jaco this time around.

As per Air. Canada Due to current airport delays airlines will not be accepting new requests for pets traveling in the baggage compartment until September 2022. The travel agent obviously did not give them the correct information which is sad that they had to part with their pets. Lately more Canadians are moving down there including myself. Congratulations I wish you all the best.

I saw a video on a couple (and the husband was even a martial art expert) that drove to Costa Rica - their real troubles were in Mexico where they got held up numerous times for bribes, They made it but they were lucky
@jay27064
@jay27064 2 жыл бұрын
@@shelleysquires7225 Sounds like to me they were unlucky and unprepared. I drove from California to Costa Rica in January. No real problems. I got a flat tire in Mexico. Free roadside assistance included with toll road use took care of us. I got Covid in Mexico but I was triple vaxxed, so I was prepared and it was like a sinus headache and I was over it in 48 hours. I tested positive in Mexico to go into Guatemala, so just went down the street and got another test and told them not to put the swab up so far. Tested positive on a PCR in Honduras and just consulted with a ldoctor and a lawyer, did a power of attorney and had my husband drive the car through Nicaragua wile I got on a flight to Costa Rica. I was asymptomatic. No problem. Now regulations have been relaxed. There are many ways to avoid paying bribes, like following all the laws and absolutely refusing to pay bribes. Get all the correct permits. Lots of people don't know that you need to go online and get free permits to drive through Mexico City and Mexico State. Call their bluff. Even if you you have done some traffic infraction, just tell the police you have no cash, credit cards only, you are more than happy to go to the police station and take up their valuable time used for getting bribes from soneone who is scared. Be polite and respectful. Don't be scared. Be prepared. Stick to the toll roads. Drive from 6am to 4pm. Stick to safe routes. Drive defensively. Look for potholes, speed bumps, stray animals. Don't speed. Be positive.

@@TravelCostaRicaNOW Overlanding is not for everyone. You have to have a sense of adventure, curiosity, positive attitude, do your research, see everything as a learning experience. Enjoy the ride. The worst experierience Ive heard with dogs is at Costa Rican Customs. Biggest assholes in Latin America. Corrupt evil snakes. Can't say enough bad things about Costa Rican customs at Peñas Blancas. But again its about being prepared and following the rules. Jumping through the hoopes. Be flexible. Never pay a bribe.
