As a local, from Nova Scotia, I often laugh when my fellow Canadians remark about the horrors of Canadian Winter. In Canada's maritime provinces Winter is moderated by the Atlantic Ocean, and the joy of the Spring reawakening of nature is only truly appreciated by those who have seen Winter. The rebirth of Springtime in South Western Nova Scotia is a beautiful thing. It begins with the sound of the little frogs found in ponds everywhere within this landscape. :) How can you experience Spring & Summer properly without contrast?

We visited there from the UK in July/Aug 2017. The tide was out and we were able to see the ocean floor. A very informative guide was there and we could see on the rocks the height that the tide came up to. Worth a visit. Very interesting.

Hey folks. Joshua Slocumb's famous boat "Spray" was a sloop he remodeled in Martha's Vineyard. He was born and spent his early years on a farm in the village of Mount Hanley about a couple of miles inland from Port George. He spent a lifetime as a sea captain out of New England, and took up sailing around the world after the demise of tall ships in favor of steamships.
