Again, who is the team serious about contending for a cup who's going to pay Mitch 14 mil lol? I have no doubt he could get that money from a bottom feeder like the Ducks or the Blackhawks. But no team who's in it to win it mode right now is shilling out that kinda money for a completely unproven playoff asset. Maybe if he goes on an absolute tear in the post season it's possible, but that's a risk you have to take imo.

While Matthews is one of the elite goal scorers, Marner is a much better all around player than Matthews & a much better defender too. How many elite stars have you seen kill penalties really well regularly like Marner does?

Its all about money, its not about winning on the ice. These young players these days dont make an example for anyone. Toews, mackinnon, makar, kane, malkin, kopitar, doughty all won stabley cups when they were on cheap deals.

Marner should not make more than Matthews .... and the Leafs should wait till after the playoffs. If they make it two or three rounds , then great, if it is bounce one and out, then the core 4 needs to end.

Canada Cup, World Cup and now 4 Nations? 🤣🤣🤣 Give me a break. Tournaments without any history The NHL another source of income? The league and the board never respected Olympic games and here we are ... all of the sudden they are willing to stop the league for a couple of weeks for tournament that nobody cares about? This league is like Netflix, literally .... there's another season next year

Are you kidding? Without Russia in the picture, everyone I know is excited about this tournament, partially because they will get to see McDavid play with Sid & McKinnon. It's the 1st time that we get to see Team Canada in 10 years & it's a prep for the next Olympics.

@@jrcanuck1 It"s a completely irrelevant tournament... even worse than the bankrupt tournaments of the past Canada Cup and World Cup. Everyone is excited to see games in this tournament? Well ... extremely boring life in Canada, isn't it? Freezing cold, right? Snow and nothing to do in general just watching hockey on TV and getting overexcited to see even the last guy on skates. Europeans laughing how people in Canada are happy for a little irrelevant things Why you care about hockey in Olympics all of the sudden.
