@@Darqshadow ohhhh that explains it! My Mom's maiden name is MacDonald but since there's like, a lot of American MacDonalds I asked her about our family history to learn if we were one of the cool ones and according to her my grandpa is descended from some Nova Scotia (... literally New Scotland. It's a very different environment from where I live (The Ottawa province). Much prettier housing and landscape, but the weather is borderline apocalyptic) immigrants who all came on this dangerously tiny vessel called... *googles because i forgot* The Hector which, holy shit Google made out to be way more important than my Mom told me. Story goes aout 200 poor, starving Scottish people fleeing Britain's trash treatment got on a ship for The New World (yes... it was that bad) but the trip was horrible. Sickness, rations running out, getting lost/blown off course, some people resorted to suicide, it was a whole mess. Mom took me to a replica museum one time and pointed out our tartan on display and described how growing up she didn't like the colour combination. Mom's REALLY difficult to get childhood information out of so I didn't know much more, but according to the google search I did just now The Hector was like the FIRST settlement... of Canada. The Mayflower and following US ships had already happened by this point. Oh, and forgot about the Vikings. It also turns out that our ancestors were also one of the first to be trash to the Mi'qmak people, which Mom conveniently neglected to mention ever. TLDR; my ancestors were members of a Scottish clan (super cool), then became the first colonizers (super not cool) after suffering. Also I know literally nothing about my grandma's family history (mom...) but HER maiden name was french so I assume there's something there. PS. excuse any typing/grammar mistakes, I am very sick + busted glasses + late at night on old/bad computer. I'm coping. And yes, I have gotten the right amount of sleep hours... just through the day. There's a lot going at in my life atm.

It's honestly incredible that after all that, our fear factor managed to fade out, esp considering our education system actually makes an effort to talk about our history of atrocities towards indigenous peoples (... moreso than America, though I'm sure it's not enough). We're literally that character who, when their smiling face gets a dark shadow, you know they're going to commit a crime. Along with equipment shortages, inadequate supply among other things. The increase in the defense budget sounds like good news, to relieve some pressure. As it would cover some of those problems. @@gre3nishsinx0Rgold4 Little while ago there was a big fight for veterans who developed health issues due to burn pits while serving in the middle east to get their conditions recognized and treated. They where not being recognized as issues that developed because of their service. So they weren't getting the benefits they should have. My brother served in the Marines along with a couple of his friends. They got stories from experience and from others on the bases they served with about a lot if really poorly made and maintained housing. Like infested with black mold kind of situations.
