I still remember back then when literally everywhere outside of the park was just farmland. The park was in the middle of nowhere and now has an entire city built around it

I remember the year it opened...literally in the middle of nowhere. 10 years later, Vaughan had begun to explode. Today, it is literally located in the middle of suburbia.

The 'Dragon Fyre' and 'Wilde Beast' metal statues were made by a blacksmith from Blackstock, Ontario. True artistry that has stood the test of 40+ years of time. I remember ALL of these TV commercials, although what is missing is the 'John Candy' spot from 1984. Remember, "hey, it's Dave!" The Joe Flaherty spot features a steel roller coaster from an American park, and 'Faroh Falls' didn't last long.

Thanks for putting all those clips together, I was getting tired of waiting for each one to load, plus the ad, this makes it so much better. Also, don't be so sure that Wonderland isn't opening this year, you never know. As for whether or not they should, well, that's another story. But they still might.

A while before Canada's Wonderland first opened a friend showed me a pic of Wonder Mountain & I thought it was so cool. We lived about a 10 minute drive away so I went quite a few times with cousins visiting from England, Ireland. Always loved eating & Barney's Burgers in Hana Barberra Land since I was a Flintstone fan & Barney was my fave character. Bought myself a Barney pin button. badge & had hanging on my bedroom curtains for years the colors started to fade. Eventually it got lost. Don't remember what happened to it.

I still very clearly remember that Canada’s Wonderland TV commercial from 1987 with Joe Flaherty (of SCTV fame) dressed up as a vampire promoting The Bat (as that was also the first year in which The Bat went into operation there). And, despite what Joe Flaherty says in the commercial, going backwards on that ride is not so scary. If anything, the scary part is at the beginning of the ride (when they back you up on a 45 degree incline before letting go in order to start the ride).

Thanks again for the compilation Ed! I had completely forgot about the wind chime effect used in those early commercials. Also, what in the absolute fuck was up with the commercial at 2:04? That has to be the most avant garde commercial Wonderland ever put out! Riding coasters makes a monster out of you is the message I guess? That would have been years before the park started doing the Haunted Halloween stuff so it's not as if it was advertising that. Which would have kind of made sense? More sense at least. The "Wonderland's the one" theme, while much shorter, is on par with Marine Land as far as catchy jingles go. Might even be a three way tie with African Lion Safari in there too.

this closure would give me time to come up with *a new ride for Canada's Wonderland *a Park Railway (driven by a locomotive powered by Linear Induction motors) that orbits the park in Both Directions (Inner travels Anticlockwise and outer travels clockwise) despite already having a train ride in KidzVille because guests at this park can get tired from all the walking. To remedy the fatigue they may experience, the park railway will solve the problem. Possible Name:Canada's Wonderland MTR (Under Hong Kong based Railway Consortium MTR Corporation since they did projects in Europe, Australia, and Mainland China but None in North America [in which case both Canada and USA]) Please express your opinion in the comments below (especially ideas for the rolling stock)

@@reviveempires I did not read your many essays no, glancing over them though, I can see your rhetoric is full of racist dogwhistles and white nationalist jargon, again I will say there is no room in my country for this kind of behavior. If you really had any cultural integrity you would recognize that. These commercials are nostalgic for me too, and they have nothing to do with race. Sadly you appear to be paranoid and obsessed with it, so you write massive comments on the internet to make yourself feel less insecure because you don't know what to do with all the hate you have inside of you. I hope one day you can learn to act like a Canadian and not just a white guy obsessed with being white. That's not what Canada is.
