It’s been 4 years for me here and I honestly can say I have achieved nothing in my life yet. It scares me when I think I can’t return whatever my parents had invested in me. The fact is you’ll never have a good paying job in Canada being an immigrant. When I say this trust me I mean it. Most you’ll get is a minimum wage job which can make you survive the life here. Taxes are high definitely and what I feel is you’re working to make someone else’s life easier. (P.S: people who’ve stayed in Canada will understand who I’m implying to) No one wants to be your freind, scope of socializing is zero coz mostly it’s cold round the year so everyone hardly come out, especially in Northern provinces like Yukon, Saskatchewan, Manitoba. Healthcare is a joke. If you feel sick and not well and you wanna see a doctor be prepared to wait for hours and hours. I once had stomach infection and I had to wait 5 hours till someone could see me. I asked for painkiller at-least so I could bear the pain but they refused that as well. You might well see someone you love dearly and with whole heart die in-front of you and you could do nothing. (I’ve experienced it myself hence saying) You’re a lone survivor who’ll always keep fighting. The only person who can make money here is businesses and high paid jobs which are reserved to Canadians. That’s how Canada’s job market is. Canadians’ first and if there’s something left they’ll look at you. By the amount of money people invest here they can establish a nice business back in their country itself and earn accordingly on own terms. Most importantly you’ll cut yourself from all emotional supports like family, freinds etc. I was social person back in India who liked making new freinds and memories but it’s nothing like that here. And it’s the same life, no different. You wake up, dress, eat, go to work, come back, eat, sleep. No different. No fun and nothing. You actually don’t live in present, you live in an expectation of a better tommorow. You’ll always have a smile when you greet someone but I guarantee you no one’s gonna check on you to if you don’t start a conversation even with a simple “Hi”. Mostly Canadians are nice but again some will systematically judge you and say nothing but you’ll see in their actions, the way they’ll talk in a twisted way etc. Yes I’m not saying that Canada’s bad or it’s no good but trust me it will take forever to build a life here especially with the number of people moving here from round the world. If you’re well off financially from back home Canada’s a paradise for you. Indeed it’s a beautiful country with lots of beauty and lots to explore but remember everything comes with a cost here. Everything comes with a cost. People need to stop believing in this fake illusion and come only if they got a purpose here. The only reason why they’ll let you in the country is for money and once you’re in you’ll have to keep spending, doesn’t matter if you’re broke or whatever you have to. Once I earn I’ll happily give up my PR status and go back to India as i very well know what the situation is how it’s gonna be in future. So just one piece of advise to every middle class person like me, guys please invest and spend your money wisely coz we know how hard it is to earn and it’s high time Canadians start appreciating what immigrants like us do for them by burning ourselves day and night and start realizing that their past generation once came from some other part of the world as well and settled here. Being white doesn’t make you a nice Canadian, you’re actions defines you more than your words. 90% of this country is built by immigrants and that’s how it’s gonna develop in future, so if they keep treating us the same way good luck to them 🙂. Also a plus note to anyone thinking that Asians are stealing your jobs, go get outside and have the balls to face them and take it away from them. Staying home and ranting and abusing us that we’re taking your opportunities and blah blah isn’t gonna work. We are so successful round the world because we are hardworking, honest and respectful to everyone. Even if we’re earning minimum and barely surviving here we always make sure we’re not burden on the government or anyone else and won’t keep crying. A big shoutout to all you guys who came here in the hope of a better future but are still struggling. Keep hustling and you’ll reach there, if not step down and go back and start your life again on your home soil. There’s no shame in experimenting continuously rather than sitting ideally and crying about future. All the very best my people and lots of love to you ❣️

We applied for PR. Got invitation for my family within 10 months. Landed in GTA in 2016. Stayed there for a one month vacation became PRs. Observed many things and spoken to many of my friends while I was there. Situation was pathetic in a nutshell. Went back to continue my job in Middle East. For 3 4 years I thought about what should we do. Should we move or not. Ultimately decided to let go the PR status & not Waste my savings on this PONZY scheme. I would like to state one most important thing for those who are planning to come to Canada. The housing market here is out of control. If both the partners have decent salary, most of the amount will be paid on mortgage and the saving will be extremely low. And, I’m talking about the house hold income of $150k in Calgary, and more than 200k in GTA area. Not here to discourage anybody, just telling the ground reality.

If you are well settled in India/Pakistan.. Have good social life then moving to Canada isn't worth it... Life is damn difficult here... Things are expensive like crazy.. specially house rents..get ready to work two jobs just to get by.. Even after that it's impossible to save any money... Weather is kind of depressing... You might enjoy snowfall for couple of months but with time grey weather become frustrating and takes toll on your mental health.. I really hope our Indian subcontinent gets developed so no one have to leave their home country where weather and culture everything is so colourful and full of life..

I have long discussion with my friends and family why not to move to other countries if we have potential to earn better in India , but they feel western countries are good blah blah blah , yes they are good ,but the other side of the coin in these countries are horrible. People getting homeless, stress level is increasing , stress for money , stress for jobs etc etc. Though it's a debate topic. I always give example to all my friends that if someone is earning 1 lakh per month in india , he can save a lot of money to survive himself for another 3 months. But life in. Canada is reverse , someone needs to save 3 months salary to survive for 1 month. Life without car ,insurance , parking , home etc etc is not possible. In India it's not a problem. Though it's still a debate topic , anyway just my thoughts

Can dine in easily in budget restaurent for twice a month. Afford better living and still can save 20-30 k per month. Example Rent : 15k House hold living expenses : 12k ( include groceries + electricity + telephone ) School fees :6-7 k Luxury expenses : like dine in , movie , party = 3k / month. If some one like to drink occasionally = 2 k / month Any type of extra expense like maintenance or anything else : 5k Investments = 20k

My wife was sick and passed out with high fever. Ambulance dropped her at the emergency where she waited around 10 hours and came back home. next day we went to a different hospital in neighbour city but same story and came back after hours of waiting. Next day her family doctor calls her a liar on phone and claims she didn't go to hospitals at all. At that point I lost it and set the record straight with the doctor. Canadian health care system puts 3rd worlds to shame. We are just saving enough money to go back home and get done with this depression. At least we will have a hospital we can get a treatment on time

I really appreciate you showing both sides of the coin..."), where I said that I feel that for people who own their own residence, are well-to-do, and living a nice comfortable life in India, for them it does not make sense to leave that good life and come struggle in Canada, and someone, "lucky dhiman", commented saying that I am being negative, for the reasons I listed (one of the reasons being slow poor quality health care) why it does not make sense. I wish he would read your real life experience and learn the truth. People sometimes think we are being negative and discouraging when we are being honest. Experience is definitely the best teacher, it is a tough teacher, but the most convincing teacher.

Thanks Sam for sharing your story. I want to do mba abroad and Canada is one of my go to destinations. I had same question for these countries like Canada or Germany, who provide FREE healthcare. I know that sometimes they take weeks to give an appointment and they take emergency cases on priority. But what if someone goes with chest pain and they conclude its not severe so they give a date for next month but in reality, that person had some serious chest issue like cancer and till next month it grew very much and it reached to a very bad stage which is treatable but it already decreased overall patient’s life span. Now who will take the responsibility for this? Would government or hospital take the responsibility of this loss? Patient came to hospital on time, when it could be stopped. Atleast these situations can be handled in countries like India. Even before going abroad, i am able to analyse that this free healthcare is actually nonsense. Please correct me if i am wrong.

When i applied for the PR in 2020, i was not getting good growth in career and was desperate to increase my income. Within a span of 2 years i got good opportunities and my situation changed. People may enjoy working in Canada but they should be aware, in 2022, they are arriving at a 'work camp' and should expect to live as they did with parents, with roommates and they should expect that around 90% of their income goes to paying for the minimum living requirements in order to work the 46 hours a week, 52 weeks a year required to pay for rent/minimum phone/bills/insurance/car payments/gasoline etc. So, that's fine, if they are prepared to work-to-live-to-work, to put off having a 'lifestyle' or hobbies or parties or vacations and can live without beer, cigarettes, candies or disposable income? Then okay, Canada is a place for you!

They just casually let your health deteriorate till you're almost dead, then fix it at the lats minute, only to drop care before you are fully healed, and let you slowly deteriorate again. @@zanleuxs Yeah, I think that's the best thing to do, to try it out first, and then based on trial experience, decide on whether or not you want to move there for good. A lot of immigrants make the mistake of not trying it out first, burning all bridges, and just moving abroad right away for good. Thank you for the valuable advice, and I will apply it as well. You should visit India, and other places where English is widely understood and spoken, so that the language barrier is not a problem, and thus it will make it easier to move if you decide to. I personally want to movie to a place where the weather is not too hot/humid and not too cold, as I can't take either extremes. Here I am sick and tiered of the harsh winters, the back breaking shoveling, the icy road conditions that make it risky to be driving on the slippery roads, top that with unaffordable real estate housing and expensive living. If you have any suggestions of places where the weather is pleasant year round and also affordable, then please do kindly let me know.

Wow these comments make me realize I'm not alone. I was born here. Daughter of European immigrants. When my parents immigrated in thr late 70s, it was different. Less rules, lower taxes, affordable housing, they were able to save. They left back to Europe before the vaccine mandates were put in. I feel like Canadians are uncultured, not very worldly, they don't care about their neighbors and are overly fake. The rules here have gotten to be too much. The government dictates every aspect of your life. Healthcare is a mess. The winter is very long, which is not the problems itself, because you can get used to it. The problem is the cost involved. Heating cost are a big one, but also studded winter tires, snow removal, winter related cost on house and car, winter clothing and so on. I’ve been here for 6 years and it’s been mostly negative with some positives in between. Everything you both said are so spot on, it’s not sustainable in terms of growing future wealth, or in terms of socializing with people or even mental health, rent, buying a home and so on and on. That said I will be leaving Canada in March 2023 and heading back to the Middle East. I was born here, and I have a lot of immigrant friends, most of which say they felt they were "baited and switched" into moving here. I don't blame them. I have a household income of $120,000 and we struggle to make ends meet while trying to save for a home (which is just... Not happening). Plus, I have longstanding chronic health issues for which I barely get care due to the state of healthcare in my city and the lack of available resources. It's sad to say, I pay +30% in taxes and don't see the benefit.

I have not, in all three cities, gotten adequate services, especially given the current shortage of doctors (specifically family doctors). For you to claim that this issue is personal and not systemic is ignoring even the Government's most recent statements regarding the state of our system, availability of resources (particularly labor), and the cost of operations. This is not to say we have the worst healthcare, the point is that it is not the best and shouldn't be touted as such.

I came as immigrant to the UK. One of the down things is health care,- to see doctor is impossible. Luckily it takes only 1-2 hour flights to any other EU country to see doctor. And usually I buy medication online since can't see GP when we need it. But financially I am settled. Just bought £250k property, while couldn't afford £20k property at my home country. I have lived here in Canada my whole life. Never had enough money to travel anywhere else but I can agree even tho our health care is free with a health card its is not always very good. Sometimes it is great but the majority of time it is not. Many people I know have similar experiences. One time for me was a simple stomach ache and I sat in the emergency room for 5 hours then finally saw a doctor and they told me to go home and relax, I went to another hospital and they actually did test and found out I had an infection it was easily fixed with some medication. Also Northern Canada IS very cold I live 4 hours from Toronto and we get lows of -30 to -40C with wind chill which is hard when you have far to go to work with no vehicle. Rent is going up and affording a home is rough. As mentioned in the video having friends makes a huge difference its nice to have some support no matter what. Despite getting a decent headstart in my career, I feel that Canada's Fool's paradise. 1. The cost of living is phenomenally high. 2. The work life balance doesn't exist. Corporate slavery does exist here. 3. Home sickness and ageing parents. I would feel guilty if I'm not with my parents at the time when they need me the most. 4. Compromise on life style because getting established takes forever and it is very, believe me, very, expensive country. 5. Healthcare- SCAM! Don't expect anything until you're literally dying/facing existential crisis. 6. COLD! However, I think that the necessary commodity like a house/accessibility to real estate far outweighs my or anyone's income for that matter. Lack of supply is causing the disequilibrium leading to unimaginable spurt in real estate. Government does seem to be taking any potent steps to rescue the situation. I'd rather suggest people looking for promising career and wholesome life to move to the US. Canada, to me, is a parallel-time-zone service center of the US. Exploit the opportunity by acquiring the citizenship and direct yourself to the US. Overall, people making 20 lac or above in India should find a very very very very solid reason to immigrate. With almost 450,000 immigrants coming and more than 230,000 jobs losses in Canada, how do people find jobs? In addition to that the government keeps printing money from thin air to pay for unemployed people, social support, which eventually makes inflation sky-rocketed, not even mentioning possible taxes increase in the future adjust for government’s debt. If you are poor, have nothing to loose, need a job, and are willing to work any leftover jobs, then come. If you are settled, or at least have your own home to be prosperous from it, then stay. If you come for your kids “better” future, then be ready for tremendous sacrifice, and hopefully you kids don’t put you in nursing home when you get old, which most likely it will be. Finally, if you are rich, stay back home to avoid taxes, have maid, nanny take care of family.

Taxes are huge. If you factor in CPP, EI, and Sale Tax, and you reach a certain tax bracket, it’s half of whatever you make. For example, if you make $19/hr, you bring home $15 for every hour you work. If you make $35-$40/hr, unfortunately you reach a high tax bracket and you roughly bring home $20 for every hour you work. Ironically, this seems like a punishment for your hard work, your time dedicated for training to get better skill. Once you have higher income, you are not qualified for any social support, especially child care. The only “good” for higher income is you are easily qualified for debts, such as mortgages, car loans, line of credit. Once you in debt, you are trapped to work to maintain the house, car, or stuff you think you have, but actually the bank owns them. Once you have a house or property, you pay property tax which average Canadian pay about $4000 per year. Once you are in Canada, either you are poor or rich. There is no middle class because they are taxed into poor. If you have any emergencies come up, you either sell your house back to the bank in the way of refinancing, or get more debt. Do people actually own anything in Canada? No, even you own your house but in the paper you are tenants of the Queen. If you decide to give the house to your child when you pass away, your child pay inheritance tax. Once you are in Canada, you own nothing and you try to be happy.

Will be moving away as soon as I complete my degree next year. Had enough of this country: 1. Soaring house markets. As a 23 years old, I dream of a moderate place maybe 1200 sq ft to live and settle in, with the current prices I see myself spending on useless rent for another 3 years. 2. Social life/things to do: Covid has become an obsession with Canadian politicians, life is no longer normal and it does noy seem to be going back to normal even in 2 years, never seen people more politically divided, the left is extreme and the right is extreme 3. Safety: never thought I will bring this up, but living here especially in the last 3 years, it feels at time that it is no longer safe, shootings 10 blocks away from my university, robberies, less security on campus. 4. Weather: I come from the middle east where it can get hot but you still feel productive and ready for work, here the winter is just miserable, most of the time weathers not predictable, almost 3 months of constant negative degrees and slippery roads and costs for winter tires. 5. Quality of life: honestly, for the amount of hard work you do in this country, it feels that you are just being bombarded by the government even more, tax here, tax there, bills here bills there. Going out is expensive, distances are long between places, not many entertainment places, you always have to dig in old neighborhood to find something. Service is horrible, waiting times on phone are enormous. Just overall, you dont feel like you are being treated and appreciated the way you should. 6. Culture: as a Canadian, I am proud but this does not seem to be the case with a lot of people. Some people are sometimes afraid to show their patriotism especially in big cities, what happened to pride? 7. Leadership: this ones just the main reason for all of the above, look at places like Dubai where leaders always have mega projects, visions for the city, attractions to visitors and tourism, resources utilization despite being in the midst of desert. You dont see this here, politicians have ruined this country with never ending rhetoric, false promises, and low investments in its own citizens.

To put things into perspective I am an experienced engineer and my wife is a senior executive in finance (accounting professional) and with our relatively high family income we honestly did not have very much left over. Canada taxes and cost of living are outrageously high. Real estate is insanely overpriced. Government allows monopolies like Bell/Rogers(internet/phone) to gouge citizens. Property taxes are sky high and local governments are inept. There is no investment into families and infrastructure and the health care system is crumbling. On top of this the politics is extremely toxic and the current federal government is as bad as it gets. There is a reason why Canada is appealing for immigrants; they want you to come here so you can become tax slaves so that incompetent governments can line their own pockets. Canada used to be a country that enabled the average person to get ahead but those days are sadly over. I really hope things turn around one day but it's not looking good. On a final positive note Canada is pretty welcoming and safe to all despite the current government's obsessed focus on supposed systemic racism issues.

With my experience of living outside my country (India) for nearly 12 Years as a Professor I can say that for living India is the best country. I have reasons to say so: 1. Most of the things is available at door step, whether groceries, vegetables or postal service. 2. Experience all type of weather. 3. House helps are easily available. 4. Diverse choices of food at affordable prices. 5. All types of Medical Service is available anytime, that too, at affordable price. 6. Thanks for putting this up so well. I have been living in Canada for 3 years now and I would potentially leave Canada once I have Citizenship and get a job offer in a warmer place in the US. Also, my wife and I have had to travel back home for dental surgery. The surgery was so costly and it would take so long to be done that it was cheaper to buy airplane tickets and go back to Brazil to do it. In regard to the USA, people often compare health care, saying how expensive it is, but at least you have the option to go and pay for it. Here, if you have an emergency you sit and cry, the emergency takes hours and, unfortunately, the government totally neglects the problem and every day gets worse.

In summer 2015 we decided to move permanently to Calgary, Alberta. Me my wife and 1 girl coming from Venezuela 🇻🇪. The first 3 years were kind of nice since we were full of hope and I was full of dreams and desire to prosper. Lot's of help from social programs, also our second girl was born here. I consider myself a hard working/positive person that even when I grew up poor, I work hard for 10 years back home white collar to be able to save and give my family a "better future". Fast forward to today after almost 8 years...I've done 11 DIFFERENT JOBS in Canada. Anything from pizza delivery to construction, to cleaning, to office admin work, selling cars, etc etc etc...anything you can imagine I've done it. Since my goal is to be independent and don't have a "job", the amount of frustration I've suffered is indescribable. In all these years we have ZERO savings even when we are extremely frugal. We have had ONE family vacation in Mexico and we spent 2 years paying that debt. We are not able to bring family because of high cost and if we will, they will be depressed after one winter here. Locked for 8 months like most people live here. We have to go to food bank many many times because we are just too poor to keep up. We decided this year that enough is enough, is just not worth it in the long term. We are moving back home. I refuse to get more in debt to keep studying to get a "job" or open a business with extremely high chances of failing. I know even if we make $120,000/year, you will never be ahead because of taxes and super high cost of living. We are going back to Venezuela, start a little business. If we still living here, my depression will get out of control and I don't know how that will end. MY ADVICE TO future Canadian immigrants: If you are white collar, get ready for the ride of your life, it will be VERY HARD. If you are blue collar, young, strong, oriented to machines and that kind of jobs, and you have NOTHING back home, your future will probably be better here. Canada needs people who build their capitalist vision in the FROZEN winter, not people seating in offices under heated condition, those jobs are mainly reserved for the born here. Canada has positive things for those who are running from war, real death threats. For middle class folks like me, your quality of life will be significantly WORST. People get in debt here to cope with cost of life, they work to pay lines of credits, credit cards, mortgages, car payments etc. It's the typical debt slavery rat race trap. I feel lucky that I can actually run, most people here are traped in debt and could never scape this frozen nightmare.

@@aashwinkumar2242 in point of fact, the uae is opening up citizenship to people with many years of residency. Especially for people starting their careers, this is an excellent choice. The lifestyle is fantastic and the mix of cultures is beautiful. It’s quite easy to move to the US from Canada. Especially given investor green card programs. Of course this can be expensive, but there are green card lotteries and all manner of ways to pursue citizenship legally. Best of luck to you on your journey, sir.

My family and I came as landed immigrants in 1999/2000 when services for immigrants weren't that developed as the way they are now. Our first four years living as immigrants were pure TORTURE at least for me as a 17/18 year old. . I remember feeling this sense of isolation and depression I never experienced before. The empty streets and my parents also never helped. Nobody talks about the ---- depression ---- immigrants experience. Also, my mom, an engineer, until this day was only able to work in her field briefly in Canada, but the majority of her experience is in the United States. Yes, we need to acknowledge the Canadian brain drainage to the US too. Anyhow, the vast majority of the wealth that my family built is mostly from our work experience ABROAD. I ended up paying back my OSAP while living in Dubai. I had the BEST YEARS of my life in Dubai. My parents now live in a mortgage free home, however, my parents didn't choose a fancy home to start with. My parents are excellent example of being frugal, only now my mom occasionally buys Tim Hortons coffee. Having said that, is immigration worth it? I would say 'Yes' given that we come from a war-torn country Iraq. My family escaped a dictatorial regime in 1994/5. I would say, if you come from a failed state with no prospects to grow in your home country, then come here, you have a future but you've gotta work REALLY HARD. But if you do have a great foundation at home, and have the potential to grow there, and come from a country that's not entirely corrupted, then no.

Canada's immigration system has been easier then other countries, because they need immigrants to sustain the country. Canada has land but not enough population to support and sustain. The aging baby boomers need help, to be taken care of, and the country needs younger human resource and the capital/money they bring. So, India thinks that Canada is doing favor to Indians by letting them immigrate, but it is actually the other way around. Indians are doing Canada a favor by coming to the country, starting small business, hiring employees, purchasing cars and real estate, paying property taxes, and boosting the economy. PLEASE spread the awareness to your friends, relatives, and people of India in India, so Indians don't come to Canada and become frustrated and deeply depressed.

My couple moved to Canada three years ago in express entry and we watched your videos a lot. As we lived in UK and USA before, we started comparing our lives in those countries and here and found Canada is not a developed country. Life is hard here. Everything expensive , all our earnings go to rent despite now earning nearly 100,000 +. No savings 😭 And most importantly, we couldn't find jobs in our domain and we survived the first year with my wife working at Tim Hortons and me as Uber driver. Regarding coming to Canada and not finding a job in your profession. I cannot understand why people emigrate to Canada when the need for the profession is oversaturated or non existent. If three thousand local people graduate annually and there are nine hundred positions created annually, I am stumped why you wouldn't know this and attempt to move to Canada knowing there are no available jobs. If there are available jobs and your profession is oversaturated, the pay won't be as high as what it could have been. Supply and demand. Too much supply and not enough demand. If the industry becomes regulated, people will get more money, they will eliminate jobs to pay the people more money and it will become impossible to get a job unless someone dies. If your job isn't about essential services, public services or the growth of Canada, there are no jobs. Canada needs to get back to developing products and our government has been selling houses and education for income instead of developing the economic growth with a sustainable business plan. I was born here. I chose to stay away from oversaturated education paths. I don't buy into the "I need one of everything" mentality (I see a whole bunch of people driving new cars and shopping and eating out and I have a way better job and way more investments and most importantly, self control). I do not engage in social media and I am disgusted by people taking real or fake selfies of them having a good time and then sending the pics to their friends and family, near or abroad. You people are part of the reason that people come to Canada unprepared. You don't just show up get a job, a new house , a car, go shopping and eat out all the time. Your friends and family are in debt and lying to you with every smiling photo they send. Yesterday I watched a immigrant Canadian family stage photos in front of the house they live in. They made sure their kids were dressed up and that every photo contained their car and the kids toys and a bunch of fake smiles. I actually thought they were going somewhere until they went back in the house. Fake. Can it be good? Sure, but you are going to have to work for it. Spend only 80% of what you make and invest the rest. Don't buy new cars. Don't eat out all the time. Don't order in food al the time either. Don't fall into the fast fashion trap (all the name brand luxury stuff available in discount malls is crap. A real Gucci purse would be $6k not $400, a real Hugo Boss suit is $12-$15k, not $2k) If there is an extra work opportunity, take it and bank the extra money. Don't take vacations all the time. I've made $5k in a day by working a Saturday and I saved it all. If you did the above, in time you will have secondary income from investments and be able to weather economic uncertainty. If the economy is good, you can still save, invest and treat yourself because you have cash flow. If you don't understand money or the economy, you will become an economic slave. Monthly payments on education loans, housing, car payments, credit card balances etc and it will feel like a noose around your neck. A lot of people do this and blame Canada, but you need to accept responsibility for expecting the country to take care of you for no reason. Do your homework. Your friend's photos and lives are fake. The more you know the more complicated life is and the more mental stress you are under, so maybe Canada isn't the place for you if you want the simple life.

Personally, I have friends who left Canada for good because they preferred to go back to their old lifestyles - the truth is that life in Canada also feels quite superficial to me and it's crazy expensive!!! But if you're working hard to save money to visit back home as much as you can, it could be good to stop and be honest with yourself about your future. On a different note, if you're working hard and doing everything you're supposed to do and yet you're not on the path you expected, please don't feel like a failure. In 2004 I wrote a somewhat famous article called 'Top 8 reasons not to immigrate to Canada'. In short, the Canadian authorities tried to destroy my life. They made it so that I could not be employable in Canada. So I moved to the U.S. in 2005 and then some years later I moved permanently to Asia. Hello guys, I am student living in Canada and in my life I have never regretted my decision except coming to Canada. I am done with this country. Wages are low with taxes which put impact on the pocket. I have talked to my mother and brother regarding the issue already that I do not want to stay in this country. Even for the one leaf you have to pay 💰 which is no less than stress. I am planning to go back to India but unable to decide what will I do if I go back to the country. I really appreciate you showing both sides of the coin..."), where I said that I feel that for people who own their own residence, are well-to-do, and living a nice comfortable life in India, for them it does not make sense to leave that good life and come struggle in Canada, and someone, "lucky dhiman", commented saying that I am being negative, for the reasons I listed (one of the reasons being slow poor quality health care) why it does not make sense. I wish he would read your real life experience and learn the truth. People sometimes think we are being negative and discouraging when we are being honest. It was to see that finally someone in canada is talking about people moving out of canada....globally there is only one perspective... everyone moves to canada....whats a difficulty here is when even the healthcare system is slow for children and is damn expensive as some services are not covered ...example children with high tendencies of dental concerns would need dental help for a prolonged period of time...and it becomes a challenge to have it covered under a limited cap by the insurance companies. Second of all children with special needs or diagnosis of any developmental delay takes very long...from what i know even diagnosis that need the child to perform some physical activities are being conducted online....which is chargeable....this has been disappointing us terribly here.

@@Shaylas My friend who is considered low income have child who need some special dental work done but is not covered by healthy smiles. The poor child will probably grow up toothless. We tried everything and kept calling the Ontario Government for financial coverage. I had premium dental insurance and normal dental insurance before and there is always a capped amount unless you are super high up in a corporation. Our dental system is brutal and I know when I travel elsewhere, I will get all my work done overseas for cheap and even better technology.

I'm a canadian in my fifties and Canada has the worst dental coverage of any G8 country. I volunteer at a food bank and the number of people coming through who are toothless is staggering. These things USED to be much better in Canada. The govermnment used to pay for yearly eye exams, not anymore. The federal government used to pay more into housing and education, not anymore. Most of these issues are getting WORSE in Canada as they are getting better in many states.

A few other causes of frustration: 1. You should also mention low wages (compounded with high taxes/cost of living) as a reason. Well paying jobs do not offer as much pay as even in India. 2. Highly regulated (License-Raj type) streams of most types of work (excluding IT so far at least) 3. Lack of availability/variety of goods to purchase. Can't blame the seller, the market itself is tiny - not a consumers' market 4. Lack of infrastructure/road-network/connectivity even within a province. Very high cost of travel/vehicle ownership 5. Very expensive to eat out (not to mention small serving portions not enough even for 1 person) 6. You already mentioned soaring Real-Estate prices, but I personally find the houses here are built very ugly. Or ugly enough to not do justice to the cost, and not much sense of space - tightly built together. For a price similar to that of a so called "detached" house here you could buy a sprawling bungalow in US on a much much larger lot. Lot sizes here are too small in general. 7. Not much to do throughout the year - not enough places to go 8. Dicey future of Canada's economy 9. Lower standard of education compared to what India/US/Europe can offer (Our kids have studied in 3 countries - so we know) 10. Super Dull life/community outside of Downtowns of big cities. Climate is cold - so are people here Overall Canada just benefits from being US's white neighbor and living in its shadows - while Canadians make themselves believe they don't like US. Honestly - Canada is a great country and may have a lot to offer to Canadians. It's just not for ambitious immigrants - the only reason they want you here is to earn taxes from you so you can pay for their retired (who are not too welcoming of immigrants anyway) - simple. Don't get fooled by the marketing... My US colleagues (whites) call ts a lame country with no vision - now I can see why :P The amount of struggle to just survive here under the pretext of being able to do well is just not worth it - in the end, i see most immigrants here are NOT doing so well, they think they are :)

You gave some solid advise here. I was an AVP in the big four back home and came here as a PR and got a job in a management role ( manager) in a related field within two weeks. Taxes are high so people should target for jobs with benefits instead of just earning from three jobs.

@@chanjc3898 honestly, it’s not very hard to land a job offer in big 4 in Canada like it is in some Asian countries. The toughest part is the survival and slow growth especially if you do not have good network. Many big 4’s open with contract jobs like if it is taxation they would hire you for the tax period & then if you want to get your contract extended or be permanent, you should be one of the favourites of the manager. Doesn’t matter if you work very hard or not. When I was with PwC I have seen employees referring/ extending contract of their family members, cousins in the same department who doesn’t even have any educational background nor the experience related to what they are doing. I have seen newcomers getting fired within 3 weeks in big 4 and honestly many managers leave after getting the experience tag. It is all about networking and politics.

There is an element of unrealistic expectation in the views expressed by newly arrived immigrants especially those whose background is very different to that of the average Canadian: the nuclear family even the one parent family is the norm in Canada whereas many immigrants are used to the extended family with its wide support system but lack of privacy and autonomy. This is a crucial difference and is the way Western society has developed for good or ill. The freedom of choice enjoyed by smaller family groups is regarded as valuable and the loneliness and isolation of that way of life something that must be accepted as part of the bargain. Immigrants from an extended family culture cannot expect to recreate the situation as it existed in their home countries and must adapt to the unfamiliar loneliness . Why did they emigrate in the first place? To earn more of course, to improve their standard of living but also to escape the sometimes stifling atmosphere of the extended family network. Only when immigrants outnumber Canadians could this perhaps change.

You are right. But Indians move out because of pressure and injustice within the country. But it also takes a very cold heart to leave parents who are also old and rarely visit them once every two years. I live in Switzerland , which may or may not be regarded as a wintery country (though the climate in the lower regions is formally oceanic, like Vancouver climate). If its drops to -5C I am ready to riot and if it's -10C it's a winter I still remember bitterly years later. I was stunned when you started talking about those -25C temps, but it was expected, and I was left speechless when you said even -40C temps are possible in some very inhabited places. I didn't know this, and I am a geography nerd. I couldn't live somewhere that essentially deletes most of the year from your life, outside a building.

beginning of the video you asked an important question and did not answer. the answer is (very rough estimate because data is hard to collect but according to statscan) 49,000 left Canada 2020-21. Usually the number who leave is aprox 10% of those who enter. The usual cited reasons for why people leave are not all true. Weather, job field, and homesickness are small factors but far from the leading cause. Statistically most people (65%) who leave Canada are between the age of 25 and 55. And the biggest destination (but not the only one) is United States. Generally when working age people leave Canada it’s not to go back home, but to go work elsewhere. And majority return to Canada. The other sector is people over the age of 65. Whether born in Canada or born abroad; retirees make up a big portion (aprox 15%) of people who leave Canada. Some go back home, and some go to mild climate places like Portugal, or Florida, but continue to collect their canadian pension income.
