Hi as NRI you need to change account to NRE/NRO. Not sure this was asked form Individuals who surrendered passport in India. You need to give undertaking for voter ID and ration card this was already ask in India

Hello, I was advised by the officer/agent in Goa that there is a penalty if the surrender is done more than 1 month after acquiring foreign passport. I am currently working in India. And acquired my foreign passport and delivered/collected from the Portugal consulate. Now how quickly can I surrender my indian passport. Online it says 3 years without attracting penalty. Do I have to quit my job? Do I need to close my savings account or do I convert it. Please advise

@@gurneetnagra1184 with evisa you are a foreigner with legitimate visa to travel to India. Don't worry just be aware that if surrender certificate application is in progress you might have to make arrangement with BLS to collect on later date. if not surrendered do the surrender after you are back.

Hi what is SBA? For surrendering India passport nationality certificate is mandatory. Does the country where you are citizen now give updated birth certificate too? In Canada it is not given to adult.

@prettymorningsinfrance can you call the service agency in France to find if you can submit documents without certificate. Frankly speaking if you have new passport the process should be done as application does not need citizenship certificate as mandatory documents however sometimes agencies find their own comfort.

@prettymorningsinfrance also you have 3 months to surrender India passport after your citizenship. Infact best would be to write to high commission/ consulate general office directly giving this info and once you have positive response just add the copy along with application.

Hi, I was wondering what is the process to get X-1 visa in India after surrendering passport? I saw a person on Reddit who moved to India after applying for Canadian citizenship. He took Canadian citizenship while working in India, renounced Indian citizenship in India, then applied for X-1 and the OCI 6 months later and kept on working. How to get X-1 immediately after renouncing citizenship in India? THanks

I have an agent who is doing that for me at the moment. He said that he will ask for an X visa for me (with surrender certificate, Voter ID surrender, etc. will be needed for that too). And then you'll be required to ask for a work authorization on top of the X visa apparently. I am in the process, will keep you updated.

@hsmadhu3168 for evisa they don’t ask for surrender certificate. Yes you can travel with new passport and evisa. Once you are back you can surrender the passport

I guess now you will have to travel to India on evisa. To get OCI from India you need to be India for more than 6 months and not a evisa. So the only option is to get from Maldives

@@canadatriedandtestedoriginal Sir now i know the procedures for getting surrender certificate!But Male high commission asked me for renounciation certificate too for taking oci in future from male.Sir please kindly guide me for how to apply for renounciation online and how to get that certificate. When i checked with embassy they are saying it will take upto 2 months for renounciation certificate to be issued back in india.. So if i am not there after doing all procedures and went back to male, is it possible for my mother or sister to pickup the certificate? Also what will be the duration for getting surrender certificate too in india.? Some of my friends said that it will take only upto 2 days compared to renounciation which will took up to 2 months!Sir,Please kindly help me to know the details and duration?

Hi you can surrender India passport in India too and in your case since high commission is clear please follow as shown in video. You will get surrender certificate

Before doing this can you check if VFS or BLS like agency is there in Maldives. Also if you need to apply for OCI how you can do it from Maldives can you write to consulate/high commission once

@@canadatriedandtestedoriginal The thing is that my brother also surrendered his passport in the same commission in maldives and also on their official website the service portal includes renunciation and surrender services but i dont know why they are saying me to back in india for surrendering!Sir do you have any idea why they are saying like this?

Not sure. The OCI usually gets processed from the country where you are renouncing citizenship. May be something is missing, did your brother surrender directly with high Commission. In most countries this is done through third parties like VFS / BLS. How was your brother’s process. It won’t change suddenly
