for those that think this course is a cakewalk, it isn't. This and my BMQ Land were the 2 toughest courses, if you're not in peak physical condition it is brutal, I learned that the hard way. Your instructors instead of playfully punching your shoulder, will essentially make you're life a living hell. They want to weed out people, for example my course started off with 45 and we graduated with 18. BMQL was a different story we had 45 and lost 3 but 2 were due to injury, a broken leg and blown knee. It is important to have a good mindset and to never give up no matter how hard it gets. Once you're done you can look back and realize how far you've come and have a sense of accomplishment.

ohDannyBoiii Yea the Canadian forces only have 68k troops all together and their training is pretty outdated even when they go to tech school for their specific job after their BMQ they still don't even get field training on those situations, it is also odd that they have a specific job to enlist for for being in the honor guard band. In the u.s you have to do basic combat training where you train as infantry then have to go to training for your MOS and honor guard band is extracurricular done by anybody in any MOS because it's voluntary and its temporary and not an actual job. I agree they need to have seperate basic training for seperate branches and not to keep comparing it to the u.s but here the navy recruits are trained how to take control of situations on a ship by simulations and field exercise even on how to take out fires on a ship or to get ready to fire on a target simply in basic training no matter what their job is same for air force, marines army and even the coast guard. But the air force and navy have started becoming more physically demanding but I get what you're saying. That's why here unless you had a certain MOS that is needed the army, Air force and navy won't let you re enlist if you're prior service with a different branch.

I had an interview with the Sergeant just a couple, maybe 3 weeks ago. Gave him some more info, and he told me I just needed some more references. Told me that my application is pretty competitive now. The only issue is that I live 5 hours away from Brigadier James Curry Jefferson Building, and he told me they're not accepting applicants that far away because the long drive might be too much of a strain for the recruits. I called him with a reference, and said I'll do whatever it takes.

As someone who is currently is st jean right now for BMQ I would just like to say. This video is a sliver of what actually happens in BMQ. BMQ isn't like the us army training. BMQ is designed to make you stressed out. It's designed to make you overload your mental capacity and break you down. The timings, the stress, and the discipline they use is a lot and can make anyone cave in. Don't look at this video and think that you can go through this without breaking down.

Keep in mind this is only the basic training for all service members, including mail men, and office workers. It’s actually even easier now. But if you go a combat trade (mainly infantry, combat engineer, etc) your trade training will be twice as long. And it will be pretty old school. I know courses usually start with 42 people and will end with 21 or so.

BMQ is only the first step in the Canadian military. The real challenge i soldier qualification SQ which varies from 2 weeks to 13 weeks. Everyone no matter your trade or branch dose SQ. Radio operators do 11 weeks SQ infantry do 13 weeks SQ. In the Canadian Military everyone is a soldier first and expected to fight, there trade is secondary. In the Canadian Military Supply Techs do all the jobs and are trained in all fields of supply tech. Where as in USA its separated training and jobs. So that means a Canadian Supply Tech is allot better trained than its American counter part. This applies to all fields of the CF this is what makes Canada one of the best trained Military's in the world. Now if only we had the funding to have the best equipment and lots of it.

Say if you get up at 4:30 to get ready, that's only 5 and a half hours of sleep and you train really hard I need atleast 10 hours of sleep a day But can anyone tell me how much time you get to sleep after you're done basic training and become a soldier
@RipLikeABeast42010 жыл бұрын
11pm is lights out, if you are finished all of your stuff and you have nothing else to do in your dorm you can go to sleep before 11pm
@brycebacon59889 жыл бұрын
actually training day usually ends at supper than your on free time. so if you got nothing to do than you can go to sleep but you will have things to do, boot shining cleaning etc...so you will probably be done by 8 or 9 but if your worried about not getting enough beauty sleep than maybe you should think about a different career and 10 hours of sleep is ridiculous that's over sleeping and isn't really good for you the recommended amount of sleep is 6-8 hours a day 6 is the better choice because than you have loads of time to do stuff. once you join the military you give up your ability to choose when you eat or sleep they tell when you can do that. its only sleep don't be weak. if you decide to become a infantry officer they will keep you up for 4 days at a time some times, with little sleep at any time.
@Butters_Stotch_1879 жыл бұрын
Thanks i never knew and i agree with you about the sleep i only need about 8, but i usually like to sleep a little more
@cf80to019 жыл бұрын
If you need that much sleep, a military career is not for you. Going through courses you will typically have structured environments. Depending on the trade you end up in you might go 30, 40, or more hours without sleep...and be expected to perform. If sleep is your primary concern maybe you should see if someone is looking for mattress testers.
@PathosAres9 жыл бұрын
You can get used to it. My old job was very demanding and I purposely only allowed myself six hous of sleep every night to prepare for the basic training...I couldn't get the references though, I needed one more. This video is not designed to "scare" people away from the Canadian forces, it's designed to look friendly and encourage people to join. Idiots who are saying "this is easy" or making fun of it are clueless. You think American marine drill sergeants are hardcore? You haven't seen shit until you try and join the CF. Try doing 180 pushups within 30 minutes because you aren't looking straight...then come back and talk. But what can I say?, insecure people (and nations) always insult and make fun of nations that scare them or they are jealous of, it's the biggest and most obvious sign of weakness.

So is it true that no matter how well you do or how on top of things you are the instructors will always find something to bust your chops about? From the outside, it seems like a case where you have to give 100% but also 'game' the system so to speak. I remember watching a show about military training and a guy was purposely a complete slob in the beginning then slowly got better to impress the instructors whereas the other guy was always giving 100% but still got grilled since he had no real way to 'improve' and just burnt himself out... Thoughts?

+dece74 (JCRF) Generally they do that to weed out the "weaklings" they only want the best, the ones that refuse to give up and will persevere to overcome any obstacle.

What are normatives of a physical training in the Canadian armed forces? For example, for how much time (for how many minutes) I have to run a 3 or 5 or 6 or 10 km?
