It’s a great and interesting career. I was a Photo Tech (now Imagery Technician) for 30 years and retired in charge of a photo department at an airforce base. I flew quite a bit and was assigned a couple of times as a member, to projects requiring photography For privacy purposes, I will not state my real name here. It was, to say the least, a mst interesting career. One day in the air, the next, photographing an airplane crash or a vehicle accident; I was once tasked to show cracks in a monument, so that Ottawa could either repair it, or destroy it.

As an addition to my post, I saw a photo last week of a BOMARC missile in a silo at North Bay. And I remember taking that photo, way back then, for a spread in a newspaper. I was also assigned one summer to an Air Cadet camp for 8 weeks, as the official PR photographer. My biggest thrill has been to ride in the bubble of an Argus submarine chaser aircraft, after completing an assignment involving instrumentation photography on the aircraft.

I've always known that I wanted to be in the CAF I was just never sure what i would be happy with doing and i saw this position on their website and this literally is my dream job. Side-note, do you think a bachelors of motion picture arts would help with this job? Thanks in advance!

Thinking about joining the forces in this degree recently, how does it work exactly?
@hugomontpetit13765 жыл бұрын
You don't need a degree to join this trade ! But if you have one, the Canadian Forces can credit that degree ! If you have any questions, please go see your local Canadian Forces Recruiter.

I have a degree in film and visual arts.. have made some military films. How easy would be to get into canadian forces in this field? I also train in kickboxing and jiu jitsu to stay fit. Will the military allow me to take my dog with me?
@hugomontpetit13763 жыл бұрын
The best would probably be to talk with a recruiter ! They know more about how open the trade is !! And yes of course your dog will be able to follow you when you're posted

Not at all, I joined the trade with no degree at all, the Forces will give you all the training on video and camera equipment ! Cheers, Hugo

kind of cheese. thought this is an army. it would be interesting to join just to see what other units have to say about this particular one; like what nicknames they give them, how they react around them etc.

@@damesbli9291 These are the kind of people, who have in the past, been to places in Afghanistan, taken videos and photos in active warzones and fought in combat just like any other soldier who have actually served. I'm sure you have plenty of experience being a soldier. As for what units say about ITs, most ITs work alongside regular soldiers and sailors and document what they do. They are all part of the same military on the same side and have been through the same training. They are soldiers just as any other in the unit.
