I’m hoping to become an infantry officer soon, I finished a degree in finance and the job market sucks so bad rn, but this job seems so badass and awesome lmao rather than working in the corporate world. Hoping to be a captain or something greater in the future, super excited to join the CAF.

oh boy. hope you are young, or at least under 30. Infantry is hard on the body. It is a great opportunity. Lots of people give up, and many remuster to different occupations once they get a taste. The worst part is it's not even the physical demands of the job, it's the senior ranks, both officer and NCO that will make the job frustrating as hell. If you have a good NCO, listen to them, hang on to them, they are worth their weight in gold. Most officers are brain dead, because they think they have a degree so they know best.... spoiler alert: they don't most of the time.

PPCLI is probably the best regular infantry unit Canada has. Its a shame that the politicians (and the people who vote for them) have driven so many away from what used to be a formidable force.

Would you know what the service contract length is for an infantry officer as a direct entry candidate (already having obtained a degree)?

Josh Bortolotti so is it 9 or 3 lol
@Ghhjjknnvfyxcx12342 жыл бұрын
It’s 9 years. For infanteers ncm it is 3 years.
@nicknamethieves4 ай бұрын
direct entry is not 9 years, unless something changed. DEO is 5 years. ROTP is 9. CEOTP varies. I wouldn't get my information from any source other than the recruiting center, and ALWAYS, ALWAYS get everything on paper. The military is a big institution and ultimately it's there to protect itself, not you. It will take the first 2-3 years for you to actually get trained in your occupation IF YOU ARE LUCKY. some occupations take years to get fully trained like Pilot.

@Josh Bortolotti I'm a grade 11 going into grade 12 student. I'm maintaining my GPA at 92% as well as several extra-curricular activities, heavily involved in community service and sports teams. I've been a cadet for almost 5 years. I'm super interested to become an Infantry Officer because they're literally the coolest job in the army. I'm currently in 39 service battalion as a weapon tech. I'm not sure how to component transfer from primary reserve to regular force, should I bring my intentions to my corporals in charge? What's the difference between becoming an officer through RMC and civilian university? Is the ROPT program for Infantry Officer competitive? I believe Infantry is part of the combat arm, does infantry have flexible space for promotion?? Lots of questions too. Please reply when you can and give me some directions. Thanks.

Hey I was in ur exact same position last year except with 32 SVC BN as a vehicle tech and I successfully got my CT processed and I'm going to RMC this September. You can no longer do ROTP at Civilian Universities the only option is to go to RMC.

@@ericli6339 if ur in grade twelve in September then yes do it right away. The process is on a DWAN computer where you fill out your top 3 occupancy choices and later you fill out a form they email to your civvie email similar to other university applications. Be sure that your MPRR is up to date such as your FORCES test and your course reports. Good luck :)

Your best bet is to call any recruiting center at their usually toll free number and ask for a recruiting officer. Best to ask them for an email and go through that. Then you have a paper trail. You NEED a paper trail, trust me. Cause when they mess up, and it's very likely, you are covered.... maybe.

@JoshBortolotti5 жыл бұрын
Alright, so I am actually at the University of Calgary. The military will pay for your tuition, books, etc. No prior degree or diploma required. Just an acceptance offer to any Canadian university as well as a successful application. I promise I will make a video talking about this, as it's very complicated when you are new.

But if you are looking for very basic knowledge, go talk to a Recruiter! They are very helpful in figuring out what entry plan and occupation will work best for you.

One of my good friends is an armoured reserve officer having started as a recon trooper back in the 90s and advanced thru the ranks. I had to slap him (figuratively) for the woke gobbledygoop coming out of his mouth at a recent dinner party. He has been inundated with DEI training to the point he was making no sense.
