This radio manages to serve up more challenges as I try to complete the restoration. In the end, I win.

Starting a project can be scary I am glad your bathroom is coming on and you are enjoying it. Don't forget to make a drawing of where the pipes are. I started building the Shed I promised my dog Banjo many years ago sadly he bailed out in July so in his memory i am building a 24 foot by 12 shed/garden workshop (No2) for the tractor and mowers and the other half for me a log burner, valve radio and beer. Indi and Cooper my English Pointers aka Banjo's squad as honorary members. Scary as snow forecast and I still have windows to fit.

Tabbies are kings at finding trouble. We have an Orange tabby, Seamus, who will get into everything.

I'd just paint the knobs brown, or better still, get some round wood balls that come pre-drilled (I bought a package of them from Walmart in assorted sizes), pick out 3 oversize ones and sand them down into flat faced flat sided circles (I have a belt sander that would do it pretty quickly). A little clear lacquer and boom, instant antique radio knobs.

Sometimes you need to apply a little heat to melt the wax in those I.F Cans. Sometimes they are set that way.

you can get a new speaker; or, just stop doing shoddy work on you tube

What you see here is a common and effective way of fixing damaged speakers.

Most of us do this. I usually use liquid insulation tape which is black and looks better. Often there is not a modern equivalent available. This one has a field coil in it I believe.
