I have a dream, a total foamer dream, but one nonetheless, of a tour with 3254 and 2317 going on an excursion up to Montreal, where they'd meet up with 6069 and 2860 as a sort of commemoration of Canadian steam power. Yeah it's a total pipedream, but WOW would it be awesome.

If I remember correctly this locomotive derailed a few years ago and bent her frame. She now pretty much just sits now.

It’s quite a shame that they are never going to return Canadian Pacific 2317 anytime soon now.

When is the 2317 supposed to be back in service?
@johnjennings797810 жыл бұрын
Not for a while, they have recently completed the restoration of engine 26, then 3713 will be pulling mainline trains, and after that, they hope to have 2317 back.

Why do steam trains emit smoke in even bursts, anything from slow (labored) to rapid - what we as kids playing trains used to spout out as 'chuff, chuff' - rather then in an even stream?
@docilehostile5 жыл бұрын
hughvane The chuffs come from steam being released from the cylinders (Those two big things on the front sides of the engine). Every wheel rotation, the timing rod releases used steam out of the piston and out the stack. It is possible for it to have a stream though, when it’s just smoke from the firebox and no steam. The reason there’s no stream most of the time, is because there’s a period of time where the steam is still trapped in the cylinder with no way out so it can push the piston and turn the wheel. I hope this helps.✌️
