With some Icelandic ancestors/mothers, you can also have norwegian dna. Iceland was mainly inhabited by norwegian Vikings. Iceland, Greenland, the Faroe Islands, Shetland, the Orkney Islands and the Hebrides were Norwegian territories in the Viking Age. There were also parts of western Sweden. Norwegian Vikings also established themselves in parts of Ireland. The Kalmar Union was the only union where three kingdoms agreed to form a union. After the Black Death, Norway lost 60-65% of its inhabitants. Many from the upper class also died, and it made Norway weaker. In 1537, Denmark invaded Norway and annexed it. They called it a union, but it wasn't. It was s dark time in Norway.

Make no mistake, neither Norway or Iceland are touching endangered whale species. The only whale hunted for local consumption in either country is the Minke whale, a medium-size species that is FAR from being endangered. Iceland has also been hunting larger whales for export to Japan at the behest of a single influential individual, Kristján Loftsson, and that is finally about to end. The hypocrisy of organizations like Sea Shepard and Greenpeace in these matters is staggering, their total disregard for science and facts about which species are even remotely endangered is staggering - in the same league as the current right-nutcase-evangelists claim that the "rights" a non-viable and dying fetus is more important than the life of the mother, usually ending with the mother dying as well, at least in Madhouse 'Murica.

Norway is aready experiencIng the effects of climate change. Glaciers are disappearing, weather patterns are changing, weather is getting more extreme, the temperatures are higher and it rains more (with flooding and landslides as an effect). And that's just the mainland: On Svalbard it's even more obvious- The most popular ORGANIZED sport is football (but the competition is rather harder than in skiing [all variants]). The polar lights are not "reflections of the interaction beween charged particles", they ARE the interaction. Longyearbyen is in Svalbard, about a two hours's commercial flight from the mainland. State monopolies for sale of stronger alcohol also happens in Sweden and Finland (and at least one US state). It is also possible to buy from their websites; the number of possible varieties, brands etc exeed 10,000. You might just have to plan a bit. The live salmon pictured, was not a European [let alone a Norwegian] salmon. Aquavit is NOT a liqueur: it's a dry spirit with either carroway seed or dill as its main flavouring: other speces are allowed. Unlike most orher coutries' aquavit it is often stored in oak barrels (from a few months to several years), one type even gets a trip to the equator and back on a ship (aka linie aquavit, in Engish]. They buy 1,000 copies of every Norwegian languge book published, after some quality assessment. Translated works aren't covered by this. Non-fiction books are not included. The happiest country for several years in a row is Finland. The Nobel Peace Prize is awarded in Norway because the Swede Alfred Nobel, who founded all but the economy prize, said so in his will. Norway did not invent or decide this on its own. A third of the Norwegian population do NOT speak any of the Sami languages(!); about a third of the Sami people do. Big difference. The crossings at Storskog has dropped dramatically since Russia invaded Ukraine, even if the border isn't formally closed. The ch in Envard Munvk is a k sound. In Oslo there is now a separate musum for Munch's art, in addition to some of it still being displayed in the National museum. The seed vault is also used for keeping seeds from less common variants of plants so that in case of diseases (hello Cavendish banana) or climate changes can be alleviated with these seeds (or parts of their DNA); Doomsay doesn't have to arrive for it to be useful. Seeds from plants are still being collected and deposited there. Norway is NOT ctaching Blue whales - they're lying with pictures again! - but a much smaller species, which is not threatened by extinction: in 2021 the estimated polulation is 100-150,000; the whaling quota for 2024 was set to 1,150.
