Laihia also is pretty close to laiha, which should be skinny or something similar in English and one tends to become skinny as a skeleton when one works a lot on the fields and doesn't eat quite as much as they need to.

This stereotype comes from 1886-1887 when there was great famine in the region where Laihia is located. At the time there was food sharing scheme between different towns in the region. However, people from Laihia didn't participitate, and thus they got their stingy/frugal reputation, and they have had to listen these jokes for ~137 years since then😅
