I think it's normal for most men to ask themselves whether or not they could make the cut. Soldiers like Jeff are running on a completely different gear than the rest of us. This isn't a boyscout troop. JTF2 is home to some of the finest soldiers on earth, and it's almost impossible to get into. They do not fuck around.

I was a POG at a Reg Force Infantry unit around the 2000 era. We knew about it, knew people trying out for it but didn't talk about it because it was understood what it was for and that it didn't need to be talked about.

Back in 93, I knew a Mcpl from the Airborne Regiment that was attached to our unit that was sniper qualified, he managed to get into JTF2 when it first was launched, he was tough as nails!

It was well known to military or police soon after 1993, especially as they replaced the RCMP, but yeah the public wasn't really informed about it.....but Canadian citizens don't get the special forces hard ons that Americans get lol.

I went to a selection info session, and had good friends with experience, and definitely wanted to try it. But as Jeff stated...you need literally olympic level running and fitness. I could ruck 24 hrs straight, was already involved in a very elite frontline unit/occupation, had excellent fitness...but due to hip deformities.... I could never run at extreme speed, like never cracking 7 min miles.... After talking to the guys I realized you needed sub 6 min miles at minimum. I just accepted it wasnt my niche lol.

Does the Canadian army have people who do podcasts? I have only met soldiers with broken noses or ears who practice martial arts or boxing, and I don't think they would make good soldiers. Personally, I am passionate about computer science, mathematics, motorcycles, working out, and cooking, which is not compatible with being in a war. I think it would be much better to have a special club with a lot of activities and beer, where people can relax. I believe in working hard for my freedom, but also enjoying an easy life when I deserve it. Good jobs, you are the best!

What is the maximum age/ oldest age to join JTF2? Iam tired of looking for the answer/ actually there is no answer throughout the google or canadian armed forces website.

There is an annual selection process internal to the Canadian Armed Forces, promulgated via CANFORGEN each year. If you aren't already in, and haven't been for a few years then you aren't eligible, and the details aren't relevant. If you are, the pertinent details are available to you. I don't believe age is a specific stated criteria.

I was the DND support officer for the RCMP Special Emergency Response Team and when it was decided that the military should take over and form JTF2. I stayed for the transition from RCMP SERT to JTF2…stayed on until the first JTF2 team was formed selected by two SAS Majors who completed their training.
