Canadians under 30 "very unhappy," World Happiness Report finds

The kids are not OK in Canada - that's what the World Happiness Report found with the survey of people from more than 140 countries, which looked at overall satisfaction among different age groups for the first time.
The report found those under 30 in Canada ranked happiness much lower than those aged 60 and older, with the former putting the country at about 58th place. Those in the latter group placed Canada at number eight.
Nivrita Ganguly reports on why researchers say Canada has dropped to 15th place overall, what could be making youth "very unhappy," and why Finland remains number one.

Canada needs an election.

Oh yeah, because elections have historically worked in changing the unsustainable, exploitative market economy were a living through, right? Give me a break! Go deeper, do some real research. Check out Empire Files with Abby Martin, Dangerous Ideas with Lee Camp, TZMOfficialChannel with Peter Joseph. Get out of the funk of status quo propaganda. We need system change. Bad politicians are just expected negative symptoms of a cancerous system of Late Stage Capitalism. Nordic countries are just ahead of the collapse a little more with stronger social programs, but they aren't big enough to change the world, especially if the base market system goes unchallenged. We can try a new approach in Canada: One Small Town Contributionism. Voluntary and free for communities to be co-operative places of abundance and prosperity. But if you want to be scared of everything new without researching it, go ahead and keep banging your head against the political wall and hoping that'll solve anything.

we live in an economy where even 2 people together struggle to rent a 1 bedroom. Where extremely expensive life ruining debt is required to get the kind of education that affords you minimum wage. Then we're told that since the internet is cheap we should be happy when most of us would probably trade it even a glimpse of meaning in our lives.

@garettdoornwaard4822 unfortunately the trades really don't make what they used to. Electricians in nova scotia start at minimum wage too. @@garettdoornwaard4822 Most trades guys aren’t making that much unless they are working camp jobs and the like, and then you never know when you’ll have work and when you won’t. I work somewhere where they are paid close to that though, and it is brutally competitive to get in w them, even w all the turnover and retirements. My Gen Z buddy is trying to become a welder. It all pays garbage unless he gets on w the union, and he has been fighting to become a boilermaker union member for years. He doesn’t know if it is worth it unless he can get on w the union. A red seal welder just joined us at work to be a labourer because that pays better and has more security than he had welding full time. It isn’t as black and white as you make it sound, and trades programs are full up, so w everybody figuring out that uni isn’t worth it, you can bet wages in trades will start falling as well as everybody and their dog tries to get in there.

The entire global monetary-market economic system IS structurally set up as a scam, a Ponzi scheme. It's Monopoly played out in real life. Not sustainable or just in any meaningful way. The Cancer Stage of Capitalism is where we are now. Where do we want to go from here? Status quo train will take us to a future Culture in Decline (as Peter Joseph's webseries has gone over). But through truth sharing and socio-economic system change, starting in our own communities, we can be the change we wish to see in the world and be greater, together. It's possible. Tools for change include One Small Town Contributionism, Moneyless Society, TZM and great books and authors like Richard Wolff and Marcia Nozick with the little-known, but still relevant "No Place Like Home: Building Sustainable Communities."

Monetary-market capitalism is a socially, economically and ecologically unjust, unsustainable and unhealthy system. What do you expect in Late Stage Capitalism? It's a Culture in Decline (series by Peter Joseph of the same name, from 2013 - why is it still super relevant? Because we haven't changed our social system yet). We need system change and it starts at home, in our communities. Those which work together can overcome the odds if we have purpose, strategy and strong co-operation and co-ownership methods in place. With One Small Town Contributionism, that provides an outlet for many of us.

JUST AFTER 30? EVERYONE ABOVE 30 IS SAD TOO...
@coolioso808
@coolioso808 4 ай бұрын
Indeed, many above 30 are sad and unhappy with where life is going, too. But I suspect the big divide in 'happiness' reporting by the older folks is because there is much more chance that someone 60 and older in Canada has been able to afford a home, have a steady job, with a pension, pay off all or most of their debts, travel, rest, relax and be more autonomous in what they choose to do each day. With anybody 30 or younger the mountain is EXTREMELY high and treacherous, almost no hope for the future UNLESS they know about a viable new system that they could contribute to that would support them and their community. That is now possible with One Small Town organization, based on the principles of Ubuntu Contributionism, a book by scientists and researcher Michael Tellinger.

How about getting informed and involved in some way with One Small Town Contributionism? Based on the principles of Ubuntu Contributionism, everybody in a community has value and it doesn't require long, back-breaking hours. It requires community unity. We've been going about so-called 'economics' the entirely wrong way for decades! It's like a person having a cancerous tumour and the doctors notice it early and tell the patient but the patient doesn't ask for the tumour to be cut out or treated, just treat the symptoms. Well, what happens? Symptoms get worse and worse and eventually a great demise will occur. We need to treat our market system as the cancer it is. Cut it out by creating a better, viable system to operate in.

Late Stage Capitalism isn't pretty. What did you expect? It's like Late Stage playing the game of Monopoly. It's one player with all the money and power, while everybody else is on the brink of bankruptcy. But AT LEAST in the game of Monopoly everybody gets money when they pass go, but real life market economics can't even do that in most countries. The game sucks. We need a new game. A cooperative egalitarian game for the people, by the people. Not a corporate Hellscape of capitalism. It's time to understand this problem and seek solutions: See Zeitgeist: Requiem. It's very instructive. Caution: Some may not be ready for this level of brutal honesty and truth. So be warned. If you still want to place all the blame on politicians (as bad as they are) then you can, but you'll be beating your head against the wall and getting a headache for no good reason.

Have you looked at the One Small Town community development strategy based on cooperation, co-ownership and collaboration? It's based on the principles of Ubuntu Contributionism, a book by Michael Tellinger, which means "unity within community" and is rapidly developing in towns around the world - of course, under the radar of the mainstream news - who know we need system change if we hope to have a sustainable future to live in and look forward to. There a very few sound strategies for people to grasp at this point, so even one good one is a breath of fresh air. Read the first page of the website for One Small Town. Any questions? How could this improve your community in 2 years? In 5? In 10?

Yeah, Late Stage Capitalism ain't pretty, bud, what did you think was going to happen? Any PM who doesn't have a clue about how toxic and unsustainable market economics is will struggle to fix even a leaky faucet let alone a national economy. Change comes from the community level up. Any meaningful, real cooperative social change, that is. So why not focus on that? Get educated and share it. "A Cure for Capitalism (not for dummies)" by World Beyond Capitalism is instructive. One Small Town organization, based on the principles of Ubuntu Contributionism is a guide and platform for community system change. Free and voluntary, but cooperative, collaborative and based in co-ownership so we the people actually benefit the most, not just an elite billionaire class and their six-figure salary politician friends.

@@theflowpowa42oshow I teach young people in college (17-19), and Patrick is 100% right. We've screwed the younger generations because of our political apathy, always passing the buck (i.e. pollution, worse this - worse that, etc..) down the line while (some of us) lined our pockets and the rest just took the envelope and shut the hell up.
@coolioso808
@coolioso808 4 ай бұрын
@@dees9478 "We" didn't recognize the system change that was needed, but was explained to us by great thinkers who often go vastly under appreciated like R. Buckminster Fuller, Jacque Fresco, Stafford Beer, Donella Meadows and more modern minds like Michael Tellinger, Matthew Holten and Peter Joseph. There is a great book by Canadian, Marcia Nozick, published in 1992, called "No Place Like Home: Building Sustainable Communities" extremely important and relevant still to this day. The problems of global capitalism and megacorporations she alludes to is just worse, not better. We didn't take those warning seriously and put them into practice in communities. Now, that's in the past, we didn't do it. But now, if we are still alive today, we can do something. We can learn from the past so we don't repeat the same mistakes. The older generation can help, the younger generation can help. But we need clarity of direction, and that needs to be rooted in system change. Market capitalism isn't a viable system. Not in any social, economic or ecological way. To change the system we need to start at home. But we can "Think globally and act locally." We can have a global awareness but then focus on home and what we can do cooperatively. That's why I love the One Small Town organization. A free and voluntary community building strategy that is for one and all. For the people, by the people. A bottom-up strategy. Not a force-fed top-down political strategy like we are so fed up with seeing at our Federal politics. It's time for change, so let's be that change - together!

This what happens when you go from a Democracy to Communism country. Sorry to say it's going to get worse before it gets better but it will get better. Were in the midst of a Spiritual War and God's people are winning. Keep the faith.
