Changing the oil on your 2022 CanAm Commander 1000R is an important part of maintaining your vehicle and ensuring it runs smoothly. If you're new to this process, don't worry - we'll walk you through every step in the process!
First, park your 2022 CanAm Commander 1000R in a flat, level area and wait for the engine to cool down before beginning. Gather all the necessary supplies such as 8mm and 17mm ratchet set, drain pan and rags for wiping up any spills. Make sure to double-check that you have enough oil for the job (around 4 quarts should do).
Once everything is gathered, start by removing the drain plug from underneath the engine. You'll want to use your ratchet set to loosen the plug and then take it out completely. Carefully position the drain pan underneath the engine so that you can catch any oil as it drains.
Next, locate the oil filter at the top of the engine. Watch carefully to see where the oil filter cap is located. Using the 8mm socket & wrench, remove the filter, being careful not to spill any of its contents as you do so. Place a rag under the open port where the old filter was located.
Once all of these steps have been completed, replace the drain plug, then begin pouring in about 3 quarts of fresh motor oil into your 2022 CanAm Commander 1000R's engine. You'll want to check your owner's manual for specific recommendations when selecting the type and brand of oil to use.
Finally, start up your 2022 CanAm Commander 1000R and let it idle for a few minutes in order to properly distribute the oil and lubricate all of its components.
