Unless I missed it, you forgot to rate your LED lights. Definitely one of the mods I will do on my Ryker and the Spyder when I trade up. Lighting is one of the areas where Can Am continues to drop the ball. My wife's company allows her to work from home because of the pandemic and I'm always home due to my disability so we spend at least part of our day streaming CB3 on our tv. She noticed me watching this episode on my laptop without her and she asked me "Is that a new Coach Bob episode?" I was busted. Had to restart the video on the big screen to keep harmony is the household if you know what I mean. She loved Coach Vick's hidden skittles and being cheap. She's the same way. Thanks for another great video.

Excellent video as always. I would also have to say that LED lighting is a must for anything pre-2020. I'm still running the originals and it is a little hard to see when no streetlights are around. LEDs will improve vision greatly. I also agree with the Buttbuffer being a 10 out of 5.

Coach Bob-I’d like to add my 2 cents worth regarding adding USB ports. I hope you will comment after. We have a 2022 RTL. The first thing I noticed was the lack of 12V power ports. Yes, I have 3 USB ports, 1 glove box, 2 rear trunk. But, they are only good for USB devices. There is an entire world of accessories that require 12V that many might find useful for the Spyder. A couple that come to mind are a portable air compressor and a spotlight. The air compressor is a high amperage device and could require up to 150 watts of 12VDC power. You won’t get that from a USB port. If BRP had given us at least 1 12V power port those devices could be powered up. A high draw (fused between 20 & 30 amps and direct connected to battery) power port can be converted to USB with a small adapter giving you up to 2 USB ports. This also allows charging of USB devices without having to turn the key on. Another gripe is not having an accessory position on the key that allows use of the radio without turning on the entire dash. Comment please.
@CoachBob32 жыл бұрын
I agree one hundred percent!!! I have that complaint on virtually all vehicles as well. It his so easy for the manufacturer to do it and solves so many problem for us!!! Thanks for watching and commenting. We appreciate it.

Vertically challenged, oh yes, Millie's is set at highest. Wind tunnel grills, I'm a 4 on that, May and September love bugs in my part of FL, gotta have them. Water bottle holder, we have two of them on passenger grab bars, works fine, no swinging gadget up front. Do you use the smart phone for a GPS? Millie and I love our butt buffer, give them a 4.5. 2020 foot platform is huge, but pegs might be a good add on for a over 6'+ driver. Love Coach Vic's Spyder, stands out with good visual, very cool. Good episode, always look forward to them.

Hi Coach! Have to tell you, your passionate and infectious videos are making it real hard to be patient with my newly acquired 2014 Spyder RT sitting in my trailer, waiting to be safety'd and updated, way up here in the Great White North. However, your videos are also making it easier to divorce myself from my old beauty, 2001 Goldwing, which was my first roadbike I got only 7 years ago at age 58. Just watched this so I could compare your items with the ones I just got today from Pierre of Canam Accessories. Got much of what you got for the same good reasons you two explained. Luckily the better cup holder already came with my bike but, damn, you sure got the better spider decal !!

I drive a Chevy 1 ton van for work every day. Drive about 250 miles a day on my route delivering packages of all kinds. Got me an egg sitter for my seat, very comfy no more butt burn for me!!! Bet it would work great on a Spyder. Don’t own one yet, but maybe this next season. It’s pretty cold here in the winter. Chicago winters can be brutal. Wife and I had a Valkyrie for many years. Sold it a few years back and miss ridding. I had a major stroke a few years back that robbed me of my balance, so I think the Spyder will fit the bill for us. Only problem is there’s no dealers near me. The nearest dealer is on my work route about 60 miles from my home. There’s a guy that lives next door to me that is a really good SAE auto mechanic so he could work on it for me but I won’t be able to get warranty work through him. Hopefully I won’t need any.

I’d go with any Spyder 2014 or newer. That’s when they put the 1330 rotax engine in them. Mileage...I’d say less than 20k mile you’re probably safe. Thanks for watching.

Hey Coach Bob and Coach Vic, enjoyable video as always! Thanks for including our bike and story, we hope to put miles of smiles on our Spyder 😊 Vic, a question for you. You both mention how important the armrests are for the passenger. Is that because of your specific situation, or just a good thing in general? I’m a bit larger than you are, but do you ever find them restrictive in any way? I fear that for me they might be too snug of a fit, but we’ve never been around them to know for sure and we don’t know anyone around here that has a Spyder. Keep up the great videos, we are learning a lot from you. Merry Christmas from Carl and Beth Martin ✨

I was thinking about these. You need a video that is based on the premise of a new owner needing optimum visibility and wanting to go 2-300 miles in starter trips. If he/she has $500 to spend, what is the list from starter to things that are nice, but not essential. Frankly I am not excited about dropping that much cash and then having to drop 3-5 thousand on simple add ons and safety features that have to be added (even though BRP should have made standard.
@CoachBob33 жыл бұрын
Honestly ...all of the things that were listed make touring more enjoyable and quite nice. I would say the only thing that I feel is really necessary in todays world of touring. A USB port that is accessible to the Rider..&... A GPS/phone mount. The Spyder is quite tour ready. Thanks for watching.

Here is a link for the BRP branded hitch for the newer Spyder RT's. can-am-shop.brp.com/on-road/us/en/219400990-trailer-hitch-kit-and-control-module.html# It is a very "pricey" option but is quality made and a relatively easy installation. There are other companies like spyderaccessories.com that have a less expensive option. I have always used the more expensive BRP branded hitch. 👍

I disagree with the Spyder Cuff as anything electronic mounted to the handlebars can be damaged from vibration. Plus the new Spyder has built in music and navigation and all it takes is a bit of time to learn how to use it. I use a selfie stick phone holder to hold the phone only because the glovebox makes the phone too hot.
@CoachBob33 жыл бұрын
I'm a Spyder cuff fan. It is my number one useful addition...apart from the added USB port. Apple has said for years that the vibration will destroy the phone. I am sure that it can and will eventually fail. But, so far I have 23,000 vibration miles on my phone. Hey...that could be a new iPhone rating..LOL Thanks for watching.
