There was a void that needed filling, and I'm quite sure she gleaned something from you. I know because I was in her same shoes, about 1984, going through a very terrible time in my life, lost, and broken, crying, as I was driving. Then you came on the radio, singing "He'll do it again", and it caught my attention. The way you sing so sincerely from the heart, with a voice I could trust, I was just believing those words you were singing, and they went to my heart. Then Bishop G.E.Patterson came on after you, also with a speaking voice I could trust, so I listened to his sermon. What you two did that day was put hope back into my heart, and I went home and began praying on my knees daily, and reading my Bible, and it wasn't long before my faith began increasing. "The enemy slipped in" meaning the devil slipped in Whitney's despair. Whitney feared having to sing for her peers at the pre Grammy party. She took pills to calm down or to end it all. She'd just taxed her heart with swimming. A heart that had a 60% blockage, and lungs that needed steroids to breathe. BTW, steroids damage the heart & lung valves ( doctors give you 10 yrs life expectancy while using them medically). Heart attack was imminent just from her health alone. Maybe her heart couldn't take that last hit.
