Jimmy’s character in the life series is really interesting to me. People like Grian n Scar have something that stays the same with every series, and most other people tend to have consistent themes. But with Jimmy, it’s somebody new each season. I feel like this really speaks to how hard his character tries to fit in in different places and the fear of abandonment that seems to follow him. Great animatic!!

The more consistent they are, the longer they survive. With the watcher lore, it could be said that the other retain their past and “real” selves while Jimmy has less of an awareness of the watchers and the fact that he’s in these horrible games. It would also explain why he has such strong connections and loyalty to others, as it’s more real for him than it is for others.

Just read the description of why Jimmy is the canary in a coal mine. But honestly when I first watched this, I think because of Bird Box. I thought the canary in a coal mine was meant to keep the miners sane. And that when the canary died. The miners that depended on the canary (Scott, Martyn and Tango), lost it. That’s why you see Scott crying at Jimmy’s grave before he soon joins his husband. And Martyn talking to an armour stand, trying to wish Jimmy back to life.

I just want to add. The canary in the coal mine is meant to warn something in the air or something bad was happening. The miners would leave and the canary would be stuck there to die. Omg I loved this so much!! Ever since your first animatic abt double life I've been waiting for one w timmy tbh, I've never seen a timmy-centered animatic before!! He's one of my fav ppl to watch, and the whole "canary in a coal mine" thing being shown is just perfect (I'm not crying you are). The way it shows all of his alliances, starting with Scott in 3rd life and him giving him the cake, to in last life him being with the southlands and having the spyglasses, to tango profusely apologizing to him when he accidentially got them down to yellow in double life. And the shot of all of his previous homes in the series being all broken and burning down?? Idk if I can do this today 😭✋️and OMG THE PART WHEN MARTYN'S TALKING TO THE PUMPKIN HIM?? 💔 I've never seen that in an animatic before, and I loved it, because it was one of my favorite parts (martyns lore is so cool fr) and it ripped my heart to shreds. And when u see all the other characters in the background, like in one of the last shots where it shows them all crowded around the enchanting table with grain explaining the rules??? This was honestly good to begin with, but with the explanation, it makes so much sense! I always feel bad for Jimmy because of this. Plus, in Double Life, if I'm not mistaken, the greens (Scott, Pearl, Martyn, Cleo) were talking about the reds (Jimmy, Tango, Joel, Etho) and said something about Jimmy dying first anyways, so he'd be the one to kill/capture? @@natalierizk2519 i finished double life a few days ago, and at the start at the last two episodes there was one pair of greens (grian and scar), two pairs of yellow (scott and pearl, martyn and cleo), and four red life duos (joel and etho, jimmy and tango, impulse and bdubs, ren and bigb) joel and etho became red after pearl & grian decided to rod both of them up in the fishing minigame at bdubs and impulses, but the death was only from joel because the two didn’t heal up fully after joel’s first rounds playing. this happened right before pearl and scott became yellow. hope this helps :)

Amazing video! I love how in the first part of the video, it is all seen in Jimmy's perspective, then there's a transition of him in the life series, then some quotes. Jimmy is walking around, watching people mourn over his death, it was kind of sad to watch him witness everyone trying to cope with his death. Then we see the transition of settlements from thriving to crumbled, and the glitching effect is a nice touch. Finally, we see the scenes from the beginning, but with a canary (and aren't you a wonder at drawing birds). Also, I found the scene of everyone gathered in a circle really nice, Grian's the creator, so he's telling everyone something, Tango, Impulse, and Martyn are just chatting, Pearl is watching Tango, Impulse, and Martyn and everyone else is actually paying attention.
