Great content as always JP. I first visited Canary Wharf the last time I was in London a few years ago. Fantastic location but can be overwhelming. This breakdown helps you shut out all those tall buildings screaming "Shoot Me!" and focuses you back on the simple but stunning details to be found in these locations. 🧐👌

Great video James, I do love that photo you printed but I mostly like the one with just the double yellow lines, I loved the minimalism of it, the kind of thing I’ve been trying to do lately too.

@@JamesParsons1 I think it was the first in the set, just the yellow lines but I’ll watch it again and confirm it. Saying that they all looked great, and even though it would be classed as the one that is really Street, the one with the woman, for me it didn’t seem to fit with the set.
@JamesParsons12 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the feedback dude! I try to not think toooo much about each set, rather to typically share them in the rough order I shot them as I feel like you can see how my thought processes change etc, and it helps keep the narrative of the story rolling. That having been said, maybe I should consider the order I share the images a bit more and see if I can tell a story in a slightly different way :) Once agin, I appreciate you commenting and letting me know what you think

Hey James new follower here! Just wanted to leave a comment saying how much you’ve inspired me to pursue photography! Hope to go out again soon once I start getting a feel for using a camera!

@@JamesParsons1 Will do! Kind of unrelated question but do you use your Sony for your pics when shooting motorsports? I’m on the fence on what camera and lens to grab, of course I want to shoot when I travel and maybe even record for vlogs. But my ultimate goal would be to shoot for motorsports, especially F1 lol
@JamesParsons12 жыл бұрын
Ahahaha no worries dude happy to help in what ever way I can :) The Fuji X100v taught me SOOOOOOOO much about photography, that I wouldn’t be in the position I am in without it. But the Fuji system is not built for sport or BTS style photography. Where as the Sony system is. All of the motor sport images were shot on top spec Sony kit and I wouldn’t trust any other system to do as good of a job. I am obviously bias, but I would focus on becoming a great photographer to then transition into Motor sport photography. Lots of people start out specifically with motor sport in mind and get suck as their skills don’t facilitate opportunities to go to bigger gigs, if that makes sense?
@juliohrndez2 жыл бұрын
@@JamesParsons1 Yeah makes sense, I was more stuck on what system to start off with, but something about the Fuji has been pulling me in, hence why I’ve been binge watching your videos 😂

I like your black and white photos. In particular, the one with the woman on the bench and the figure in the shadows. I would like it a little more if the figure in the shadows wasn't there. Another great video, James. Absolutely love the photo of a girl on a playground! I had a chance to visit Canary Wharf during my recent trip to London, but found this place a bit odd on when it comes to rules of taking photos - I mean several security guards approached me. But at the end it did not ruin my experience enjoying this place. Oh, yes, the printed photo is awesome, i like that a subject is moving and it makes the photo more interesting!

Yooo Daniela - All of them are edited in lightroom :) I've got free presets at the buymeacoffee.com link in the bio where you can download them. Also, watching your videos (London in b&w) I was just telling my husband how much I regret not taking advantage of the city 20 years ago when I did a semester abroad and actually took a film photography course as an elective. I think maybe 2 of my photos were good or OK and I was proud of that, but my eye was not as trained to fully understand photography like I do now.
@hermessonofzeus44622 жыл бұрын
Another great video James, tough group of images to pick one to print. I'd be interested in how you print your images and what steps you go through. For example, do you print at home, have someone print them and any processes you go through so that you are happy with the colours etc when they are printed. Cheers.
@JamesParsons12 жыл бұрын
Thank you my dude ❤️❤️ appreciate it :) I am not going to lie, I send it to The Print Space in shoreditch and they seem to deliver great images every time Ive used them. They have soft proofing profiles which allow you to see what the files will look like perceptually, so I just use them and hope for the best! Is there anything you recommend?
@hermessonofzeus44622 жыл бұрын
@@JamesParsons1 No real advice, I drop of the files and hope for the best too. Unless you print from home commercially etc I think using a printer like The Print Space is a good idea. I just use my local, but now I'd like to up the quality a bit.

How do you use that feeling of texture in your edits? do you play with noise reduction? perhaps with the level of clarity ?
@JamesParsons12 жыл бұрын
Great question - I personally drop texture, clarity and dehaze by -5 each, then add a little bit of grain and it seems to give this nice feeling soft texture :) give it a go and let me know how it goes!
@raulmedina28482 жыл бұрын
@@JamesParsons1 Thanks for your answer, I'll try it, do you make those adjustments at general levels throughout the photo? Or do you do it in a timely manner with layers and small independent adjustments?
@JamesParsons12 жыл бұрын
That kind of adjustment is generic for all of the images, I personally don't reaaaallly play around with the image toooooo much because I would rather not be on my computer (instead out taking pictures). Contrast is the thing I play around with most when in lightroom, got to get that right for the image to feel like its 'right' IMO. 🙌🏻
